Burned the DLDVD using DVDFAB, went fine with no errors, but my laptop will play it but my DVD or Blu Ray Player wont... Maybe will just have to shrink it to a SLDVD...

I'm wondering if FixVTS will help you too. I don't know if DVD RW DLs exist to test this, as no one wants to have a load of coasters.

Put that in the Firefox address bar and it should let you open it in uTorrent. If not, associate it with magnets in the uTorrent general settings.

9 seeders so far. I sent the .torrent out to them at 1am and it's now 10pm, so I'm not sure what's going on. They all got an email about the bug fix (see website), so it might just be a case of people still being wrapped up in Xmas cheer!

The cogs are working and googling on ways to get it faster in the meantime, anyway. Not sure where the rest of the group is, would be a bit quicker if I had a hand!

Is there going to be any difference between the single layer DVD version as opposed to me just shrinking the Dual Layer version myself?

No. DVDshrink was used on the DLDVD layer at the authoring end to make SLDVD too, as creating an export from Adobe made everything look too pixelated. I've recommended that program in a couple of other places, and it's rather fool-proof.

I've asked the editors if they would rather just knock up a how-to on that process rather than torrenting a separate file, where we have to wait for seeders and all that business. DLDVD seems to have a decent seeding ratio now, so it seems logical

HOW TO USE DVDSHRINK TO MAKE A SINGLE LAYER DVD OUT OF THE DOUBLE LAYER DVD DOWNLOAD

If you don't have DVDShrink already, I highly recommend it. If you're running Mac OS - this forum thread can help you install and run DVD Shrink on your computer.

Here is the step by step, dummy proof process to help you burn something to a SD DVD from the DL DVD.

1. Open DVD Shrink and choose 'open files'.

2. Find the The Gift DL DVD folder. Open that and find the Video_TS folder to select.

3. Let it load to DVDShrink.

4. Press the 'Backup' button at the top of the program.

5. From here, you can either burn directly to a DVD from DVD Shrink if you have Nero installed.

Or you can make a Video_TS folder.

Or an ISO...

...by selecting a target area on your computer that you want the dvd to be created in.

Both of these files (ISO and VIDEO_TS folder) can be burned by opening the folder or iso file in either ImgBurn or PowerIso.

After that - enjoy watching your SL DVD!

If I'm missing something in this tutorial, please let me know so I can make this as simple as possible for people to do on their own.

You also ought to run a deep analysis or make sure it's enabled in the settings. I haven't used DVDShrink for a while, so I've forgotten how long it takes, but people on forums reckon it doubles the encoding time, however it will improve the quality of the SL DVD.

Another fine tool to compress to a SLDVD is "CloneDVD" by slysoft.com. Can be found there: http://static.slysoft.com/SetupCloneDVD.exe

Fast and very good quality-results in the end.

Alex - when I did it Nick said to make sure it's region free, and that subtitles and the two audio channels should be selected. This was already default for me.
