I'm a little upset at the higher budget for this movie. The first film had a great low quality intimacy that this one probably won't be able to express.

Also: male director.

Despite the fact that it's safe to assume, that's still a pretty broad statement. Let's narrow it down to the 12-18 age group and throw their moms in the mix.

I don't usually like to go in there because of how overpriced it is, but I had to pop into Hot Topic last week to see if they had gotten a decent supply of pleated skirts in yet. Of course, there's New Moon shite allllll over the place - in the windows, two shelves and endcaps up front and stuff scattered all the way to the back. I walk in and they've got someone positioned at the front to talk up the merchandise, pitch sales, yadda yadda. There's a few young girls near the entrance, blocking the main path because of all the NM crap and I have to kind of squeeze around them. Gave the salesgirl just enough time to get to me to give me the "Right now we have a ton of New Moon merch for sale as you can see" line. I say "Um, no, not interested."

The girls I just squeezed past whipped around. No joke. Just all of a sudden stopped talking, whipped around hard and go on the defense. "WHY? WHAT'S WRONG WITH NEW MOON? O.MG ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE HATERS. O.MG YOU HATE NEW MOON. O.MG HE HATE EDWARD. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? THIS IS THE GREATEST BOOK EVER! O.MG O.MG YOU'RE A LES BITCH AREN'T YOU? ARE YOU JEALOUS?" I honestly wish I was joking. I've heard of stories like these, but didn't really think they happened and just...I GOT CHASED OUT OF HOT TOPIC BY TWIHARDS. WHAT THE FUCK.

I am so avoiding that store until after the movie drops.

Guh. Although I despise Hot Topic and everything it stands for. I also got this treatment once when I said "I hate Panic! at the Disco" to another friend in the middle of the store. Two girls were like "WAAAT???!!!!"

Like it matters that we have differing opinions. Although it's safe to say that it's fact that Twilight is awful.

That's horrifying! I'm so sorry. This is one of those pop culture phenoms that I just wish I could close my eyes and sleep through for the next few years. Now I've read all the books - I enjoyed the first one but became progressively more irritated with every following book at the way the characters were drawn, in particular Bella's martyr complex and the fact that a plain, clumsy girl is for some reason the object of everyone's affection, natural or supernatural.

I just try to picture Bella and Edward living in that cottage for the rest of their lives - what do they do? Just stare at each other, letting out little gasps of desire when they smell each others' perfect breath? (I'm serious, you guys, for those who haven't read the books - Edward has perfect breath.)

I wanna know what the hell perfect breath is supposed to smell like. Is it minty fresh? Does it bring to mind visions of a daisy filled meadow on a sunshiney day? Does he Febreze that shit?







....I bet Febreze is like Kryptonite to rpatzz.

Is the book just a paper-thin metaphor for how much the author wants to bang Joseph Smith?

Actually a buddy of mine has some pretty good insights in his review journal if you wanna take a look at some of the entries. He's basically concluded that Smeyer is a misogynist and hates her own gender.

Can I just pop out this completely unbiased against Twilight (I hate twilight but this is a genuine question for the fans, not ragging on the series) question?

Can someone explain to me why people are okay with, let alone somewhat praise the CGI-wolves in this movie? To me they seem like CGI effects that The Asylum would put in a straight-to-dvd blockbuster exclusive Twilight rip off. Yet I hear people all the time say that they look amazing and all this stuff? Do you guys honestly find anything special in the graphics or is just blind bias?

And for Alyze's story about the twihards at Hot Topic, it's even more pathetic when you come across the same scenario... but with middle aged moms.

This is just... it's just wonderful. It should be a book? I want to be friends with Mark.

I tried to read the book to see what all the fuss was about. I believe I was able to get fifty pages in before I quit. My friend convinced me that the movie was so spectacularly bad that I had to see it. I watched it with her over the weekend. Three bottles of wine and the movie was still utterly horrid.

Does Bella ever get a personality other than uptight bitch?

If you watch it with rifftrax, it's all the more bearable.

If he made these chapter-by-chapter reviews into a book, I'd totally fork out for it. Way more enjoyable than the novel itself.

I've not read the books, but I'd assume if you read more than 50 pages you probably would've enjoyed it more. It's not like it's a super hard read or anything. My ex thought the same thing about the series, then she couldn't put the books down. Same goes for everyone else I've ever talked to that enjoys Twilight.

I'm not convinced of any personality; the girl playing Bella is not a good actress. She's annoying to watch the majority of the time.

Actually, I blame the material. Kristen Stewart's performance in Adventureland was actually rather poignant.

Twilight itself is Mary Sue fiction so the author can vent her own frustrations and fantasies onto the masses. Surprisingly sexist (and stalker-style creepy) source material really doesn't bode well for anyone.

I disagree, she is one of the best young actors around in my opinion.

She may not have a lot of range yet but I have seen a lot of her work, Twilight was the only film where she wasn't convincing (but none of the actors were, the writing was terrible).
