I'm not sure how many people are aware of this but the original creator of The Rock-afire Explosion for Showbiz Pizza Place has started choreographing new songs with the characters. Click here to see some of the stuff they've already done.

Anyways, the guy has a bidding list set up where you can offer up cash to get your song of choice choreographed. (See where this is going?) I'm thinking if we were to pool some funds, we could make it happen. FWIW, the last winning bid was a mere $230.

I'm not sure if this is feasible, but I figured I'd open it for discussion. Note that there is a policy on "dirty" songs, but it appears to be somewhat flexible. The basic thought at this point is that each contributor gets a vote (weighted based on amount contributed). So, what do you think?

I think leaning towards The Slip is a good idea as it also helps promote the record. guilty also suggested that using a track from The Slip might just end up getting this featured on the main page at nin.com.

Here's current tallies (weighted by pledge amount) by song choice:

It looks like 1,000,000 is the front runner here. I think we're at a point where I'm ready to toss our bids in. Unless there's anyone still on the fence here. If your pledge isn't down on a song column you'd throw in on, please let me know in the near term.

----

Anyways, let's shoot for Friday as the day we send our contributions in.
Never mind, just get your bid in whenever is convenient for you.

You'll need to send your bid via paypal to aaron.fechter@gte.net

Use the subject "Rock-afire Explosion Bid: Nine Inch Nails - 999,999/1,000,000"
and feel free to use the following as the message along with your payment.

BID for R-aF to perform Nine Inch Nails "999,999/1,000,000" from THE SLIP. Songs for free @ http://theslip.nin.com. The following is the original message I intended to send, but (as guilty discovered) paypal restricts you to a 300 character limit on your message.

Quote:
Here's my bid for getting The Rock-afire Explosion to perform the Nine Inch Nails song 1,000,000 off of the album The Slip. The album can be downloaded in it's entirety for free at http://theslip.nin.com/ You can also find a multitrack version of 1,000,000 available for free download via torrent at http://remix.nin.com/data/multitracks/nin_theslip_1000000_multitrack.torrent in case you want to remove the single instance of profanity (or maybe it helps with choreography).

You may want to consider also including the track 999,999, it's the lead-in to 1,000,000, is only about 1 1/2 minutes long, and really provides for a great opener as the drums come in on 1,000,000.

If at all possible, we'd love to be able to get the video in higher quality than what's available via youtube. Please let us know if that's possible.

Thanks,

the Nine Inch Nails fans from echoingthesound.org and theninhotline.net

I've sent this message along to Aaron directly via e-mail and received the following reply:

Step by step guide to submitting your bid:

I'm lame and don't know how to do this... tutorial anyone?

Step by step guide:

First, log in to your paypal account at paypal.com.

Once logged in, you'll want to click on the "Send Money" tab.

Next you'll enter the e-mail address of the recipient "aaron.fechter@gte.net", your bid amount, select "Services/Other", and click "Continue".

From there, you'll be able to enter a subject and text message to include along with your bid. I'd suggest cutting/pasting the canned text guilty has provided.

Once you've done all that, click "Send Money".

And you're done.

It reminds me of when I used to entertain myself by putting my Appetite for Destruction cassette in my little sister's Teddy Ruxpin. Hehe.

I'd pitch in a dollar or two if you're serious. Song selection is important.

I loved Showbiz, but they have all been bought out by Chuck E Cheese around these parts. Sad

I thought I'd read somewhere that Showbiz went bankrupt and got bought out by Chuck E. Cheese, but it's actually the other way around.

Quote:
In 1984 the company purchased the assets of Chuck E. Cheese's, after that company declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They then proceeded to change the name of the company to Showbiz Pizza Time, Inc. Both restaurants were kept operating as separate entities. After disagreements over a period of years with Creative, Showbiz management decided to go ahead with a restructuring of the restaurants called "Concept Unification". This would consist of renovating all Showbiz animation into Chuck E. Cheese characters, as well as renaming all stores to "Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza".

Weird.

Anyways, I've updated the first post with those who have confirmed interest. Let's start tossing around song choice ideas.

Sadly I have no extra fundage, but I believe that this is an awesome idea. I agree that the hand that feeds would be an obvious choice to make, simply because we can not have to worry about censorship.
Either way, thank you, dave, for bringing this up...i'm interested in a completely different manner...

Is it sad that I have my complete collection of Rock-a-fire vinyl less than a foot away from my computer?

Ah, Chuck E. Cheese! Now I get it. I'd never heard of Showbiz.
Okay, we're talking about irrevocably scarring the minds of the very young! Right. Now I'm on track.

how about Reptile? Scariest NIN song I know of.

Considering the "band", I'd love to figure out a track that has strong keyboard, guitar, and drum parts. But at this point, 1,000,000 is really jumping out at me. The guitar and drum parts sound like they'd work well. Particularly so if some camera work is applied while shooting.

With the multis, we could easily cut a "radio edit".
