9" 45s would rock, one per song, maybe a hard, felt-lined case to keep them in. The b-sides could be either actual b-sides (songs we haven't heard yet shock!) or alternatively, the lyrics etched in.

I'm interested about the lyrics etched in. Do you have any pictures/links of examples?

Or the backs can picture disks with the album art or with the instrumental versions.

How about correcting all the problems with the "Ghost" release first? Just in case they are going to be using A+R again.

kinda like.

I would like that packaging.

Hopefully, the typos will be fixed if it is released that way...

However this is released, I will be buying it. I bought the retail version of Ghosts and the $75 version. If Trent does the same thing with The Slip, I will also be doing the same thing.

If there is a dvd I hope it's not just the multi tracks. I would LOVE to see some behind the scenes footage, Some Kind Of Monster style!

somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can add playable dvd footage to a Data DVD. They could try doing a dual-disc, but I don't think they could fit much on there.
you can get the multitracks on the website though. I bet if this is real, the DVD will be footage.

I heard that not decided the details yet but Japanese The Slip dvd might be video dvd, not just the multi tracks.
The release date is delayed to August 20.
And Japanese ghosts 3 cd set which has Trent commentary audio disk also to July 9.

Personally, I think you might be pretty on the ball with this. Those album covers don't seem to be like... a throwaway thing. I hate to be "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen ARGGGGG" or whatever, but there might be a tie to them in the physical release. :)

Pinocchio wrote:I think a plain digipak or plastic case would work best, any fancy packaging and/or high price would render the "gift for the fans" a lie. I am willing to pay a collectors price for a proper album, a masterpiece possibly, not for a short collection of cool songs. (tho I will prolly do it anyways). Lets not turn The Slip into something it is not please. It's a matter of an artists credibility. Some of my friends already think the "gift" thing is only a gimmick, so when the physical cd is released every fan is going to buy it out of a feeling of loyalty. (In Rainbows rings a bell?) I would hate it if they were proven right. Would mean that I'm a naive sucker

I don't understand this point. Trent released a free digital release to fans, how is releasing it a physical format screwing them over? You don't have to buy it if you don't want to. I for one am all for a deluxe cd / vinyl release. Like I said earlier, I'd prefer not to spend $300 every time a new nin album comes out, but I do enjoy nice packaging.
