I think they might know what kind of performances we'll see. They just don't give a shit and want to take every chance to show off their importance.
I don't know many details since I wasn't there last year (the festival was just born last year). As far as I know, yes, there was a barrier, and the VIP area was guarded by soldiers. I think it'll be the same in September. Well, I also heard that the VIP area was empty the whole afternoon last year, but when Placebo came on stage at night, it became almost full, not sure how many of them were real fans though. Some lucky fans managed to sneak in by phoning friends or friends of friends in backstage or something, but most people were blocked outside. Anyway, everybody hates that.
I read a thread today where someone who seems to be one of the organizers posted to say they've already figured out a way to help regular fans to get inside and the message will be delivered underground several days before the festival. I hope it works. If it doesn't, throwing water bottles to those VIPs would be a good idea if bottles are allowed.

There's one more thing I'm worried about, Placebo definitely has way more fans than NIN in China. I dunno how many people will want to fight this time.
Am I thinking too much? Ah, I hope so.
EDIT: I asked a friend who went there last year. She said even though the VIP area was full, you still can tell they were just VIPs not real fans judging by the atmosphere.
