Little late getting to hear this but I just got my copy. Downloaded the mp3s! Can't wait to get a chance to listen to this, and be able to hold the physical copy as well. The Fragile is my personal favorite and I've been waiting for this remaster/revisit/celebration for years.

I admit you got me good. But this was way too cruel, I'd rather be rick rolled than listen to smashmouth blegh.

The vocal version with the extended opening from D1 is out there, if y'all want the real thing.

I wonder if any of the new material is the track "Rotation" from the Fragile's early sequencings. Or if that was a track that has been on the record from the beginning.

Since "Stained" is probably UIA and Anomaly is TWOIT.

Maybe the albums packaging will shed some light on this?

Also i still want that 5.1 mix damnnit.

It seems like the good moment for 5.1 release was missed when typical "home cinemas" transitioned from DVD to USB and internet video over wifi built into TV... Not saying that it wouldn't be cool to hear, just that it wouldn't fly off the shelf as a product these days.

We had a whole discussion about this earlier in the thread. Or maybe it was the other thread. Anyway, search for "rotation" in this forum and you'll find it.

Looks like the consensus is that it might be The New Flesh, but its not a convincing argument IMO, since that track is on both sequences on the dry erase board, and in the CDR tracklisting picture too.

Err, yeah, I don't think there is any consensus at all, and certainly not for a song also on the same tracklists.

Gotta say, The March is amazing! Hooked on it and I feel like I'm listening to The Fragile for the first time again. Extremely well done.

guessing you didn't actually listen to it because you'd know after about ten seconds that it's definitely not official

Yeah I wonder if raised to be lowered was an omitted finished track. Like he's saving it still. Otherwise, why wouldn't it be on here? The chorus is the repeated 4 note theme we get throughout the album so it must be deviations worthy. So many questions still...

Edit: now that I think about it, it may have been way too unfinished. At least before he started working it with Saul. The guitars in the verses sound YZ Era.

I was in bed and didn't want to wake the missus up when I first saw it.

edit: LOL, I get it now.

I actually legit love this, though my tolerance for Smashmouth got raised quite a bit via Neil Cicierega's mashup albums Mouth Sounds and Mouth Silence (http://www.neilcic.com/mouthsounds/ and http://www.neilcic.com/mouthsilence/ respectively). Mouth Silence is the better of the two but the first one's more concentrated smashmouth mocking. (Silence also contains a pretty great Closer mashup in there.)

I hope he's saving it for Deviations 2.

I re-read the Saul/Trent descriptions of all NiggyTardust songs from their respective NinWiki articles. Trent had given Saul a 14-track CD of Fragile outtakes, and these are the tracks that we know for certain to have emerged from it: Convict Colony, NiggyTardust (chorus only), Skin of a Drum, No One Ever Does, Banged and Blown Through and Raised to be Lowered.

Do we know for certain that they were outtakes from The Fragile? The CD could be outtakes from With Teeth also. Although they sound very Fragile to me.

It could be that some of those outtakes were short ideas, which is why songs like "NiggyTardust" contained only the chorus. This could also be why Trent opted not to include them in "Deviations 1"; he wanted it to sound as fluid as possible, and having a bunch of random short snippets probably would have ruined that.

I would guess some were totally finished with or without vocals that they reworked and some were very rough, like just beats and a few notes here and there with missing/unfinished sections. I only say this because again, some of the instrumentation sounds current to the YZ era. Like the guitar in raised to be lowered, some of the stuff going on in convict colony sounds very WT to me. My guess to the most complete songs before they reworked them are skin of a drum and banged and blown through. If TR had lyrics to banged and blown through I would kill to hear it. The first time I heard that song I had chills. I thought it would have been a great closer to the fragile.

I can't stop listening to this. It's great. Even after listening to the Apple Music instrumentals a million times. It makes me want more The Fragile material even more than before. I don't even care about the package at this point. What do we have to do to get this stuff? Trent should just name a price to release all the material digitally. Even a track at a time, like "Hey check out this 30 second clip of the original demo of Into the Void. I'll release the full track for 5,000..." Once a week until it is all released.

Back in the day, I always felt like the version of TMH we got was a remix of sorts.

I know that TR commented at on it that their are "different versions in the vault with varying degrees of embarassing lyrics."

The "hello, everything is not ok" version sounds more akin to what I would think an original cut sounded like.

I actually like the lyrics, and i find myself kinda half singing them along to HEINO, you can kinda tell where lyrics would have been.

Of all the "new" tracks, this one intreagues me the most.

Is this release only going to be entirely fulfilling once I possess the physical vinyl in-hand? I am happy to have the digital component, and I've listened several times. But I can't fully grasp what I'm listening to until I have art/liner notes/etc. to complete the journey. Just me?

Also, is the option to "facepalm" a post only available to certain users? I seem to only have the option to "like this post,"...

Yeah I would love a version that uses the music of "hello everything is not ok" that puts in the 10MH lyrics in the chorus. Then a long outro, all of 10MH. Best of both worlds.

I used to feel that way and I still think art is a very important aspect to music, but I think the digital experience has surpassed any physical media for me. I still buy every release, usually in multiple physical formats, but then just put them on a shelf or in a box and rarely ever hold them. Maybe I am in the minority, but I just don't have the option to sit down and listen to a record and hold it. I have a job that requires me to work a lot and travel, plus I have kids at home... until I retire I just can't imagine having time to dedicate to that sort of experience regularly. It is kind of sad I guess. Now most of my listening is done in cars, on planes in hotels, etc. At this point I would rather just pay a subscription to nin.com for all digital content with the option to listen through an app that incorporates a visual experience, even though I would still end up buying any physical media cause I just can't seem to break the habit.

I love Ten Miles High. Hello, Everything Is Not Okay is cool, but prefer the version we had. Ten Miles High is one of my favorite Fragile era songs, hell it's one of favorite NIN songs. Always hated how it gets cuts in the CD version. I know a few songs on The Fragile that I'd replace to have Ten Miles High instead.

Me too, I feel like it was one of those tracks that should have been in the original cd version too. Hell it was on some of those early sequences and there was that website post about convincing TR not to cut it.

I feel similar about The New Flesh, the "original" cut sounds like its some sort of remix of sorts, but regardless I wish it was left in the original CD version.
