It doesn't seem to me that a tour is on the cards next year but i hope I'm wrong
I'd like to quote myself from the other thread:
Under the social media tab it says following:
WE WILL OCCASIONALLY CONTACT YOU VIA EMAIL TO GIVE YOU ADVANCE NOTICE ON VINYL REISSUES, NEW MERCHANDISE, TICKETS ON SALE, ETC.
Yep. I don't think they'd bother adding ticket sales in (rather than leaving that to be covered by etc) unless there was a plan on touring eventually. Even if it's not in 2017.
Also, thank you for pointing that out in the other thread, because I totally signed up for that very reason once I saw your post.
It's entirely possible those quotes from Trent at the end of 2014 about them "already planning out" what the next tour would be like weren't wholly full of shit now
I can't think of a more Trent move than, right after taking hundreds of dollars from us via reissues, announcing tour dates
Thinking full length lp in the summer, tour starts in the fall.
Personally I am getting a bit concerned about the future of Live NIN.
Firstly naming Atticus permanent band member: I don't see Atticus as a strong live performer, especially in a NIN context. Would Trent bring NIN on the road without a permanent band member?
Seconding dropping Rob Sheridan as graphics artist: Rob has traditionally been an important piece in creating live graphics. Will the new graphics artist take on the same role or "just" provide album art, website graphics etc?
Is the future going to be Trent and Atticus recording pieces of art/music under different headings? Sometimes movie scores, sometimes NIN, sometimes HTDA?
Since live NIN is more than half the experience for me I would hate that scenario to play out. Am I being paranoid? Please allow me to get rid of this paranoia with some good arguments.
You're being paranoid.
well dude when i
was in middle school, i was too young to get into the first nin shows in dallas, because they were at the (originally much smaller) bomb factory. (the point being that i WANTED desperately to go, but had to wait until 94 when they played at the Fair Park Colliseum
also get off my lawn.

To be fair, half the fun about NIN is that you can never really second-guess Trent Reznor. It's a huge leap to assume that every NIN tour/live event needs live graphics. It could be anything.
The same thing is true about the music. I love to speculate what the new stuff will sound like (I do it before every release) but it's always its own thing.
But I learned over the years that it is without exceptions always better than what I imagined. It's okay that you can't see how it will work. I'll bet that TR does!
So cheer up!
God damn, these new songs are going to sound HEAVY live.

"Nine Inch Nails are expected to drop a full new album and announce tour dates for 2017 in the months ahead."
Hopefully they didn't just draw together ideas from this thread!
I want 'The Idea of You' live.
Agree with getting this stuff live... But they should take some time to announce a tour. My bank account can't handle it.
Looking like no tour.
He said not immediately but did say they were "discussing". If there are tour dates, I would say not before the fall.
The very last part of the interview was him stating that there was no disrespect intended to Ilan, Robin and Alessandro by naming Atticus a permanent member, it's just he is next to him in the studio whereas they are more on the touring side. The fact that he named them specifically when the line up tends to be rather fluid to me suggests that he is exploring what is next in the live format (and that they will be included). Josh Eustis is the only former (I think?) member listed in the discography section too so I could see him being involved too.
^I thought some of Justin's album credits were listed in there, too.
alessandro, ilan and robin are part of the family: zane lowe interview about the future live shows.
My heart skipped a beat (or two) when I saw this in my inbox, but alas, it was only NTAE announcement
Since Atticus is an official member now, I wonder if he'd play bass on tour. Alessandro may have handled bass duties for HTDA live performances, but ninwiki says that Atticus played bass on their studio releases.
I strongly prefer the NIN live band to be a five-piece (with a bassist AND a keyboardist; also a drummer and a lead guitarist, obviously) so I'm hoping that a bassist will be added, while the lineup is otherwise the same as the most recent incarnation of the band. If not Atticus, then either Josh Eustis or Danny Lohner.
