Sounds compressed and as shitty as Death Magnetic tracks guitar wise.

The song is also repetative and goes on for about 4-5 minutes longer than it should.

Well, they're upfront with how it's a rough mix.

Hmm yeah just like stuff from their previous albums, the song could be shorter. Sounds like it's long just for the sake of it.

I am expecting Death Magnetic Part 2 for the next album, that's fine by me really.

winter's turn... lords of summer have returrrrrrrrrned...

I'm usually whatever when it comes to lyrics, and so this is something I rarely say, but really, what the fuck is this song "about?" I'm not going to judge a rough mix (why the hell is Metallica uploading rough mixes?!), but that's the least of my issues with this.

This "rough mix" already sounds better than that album.

yes indeed, it will be nice to have this in good/clean quality to replace the various old dubious bootlegs. Now I pray they don't butcher it as they did with DM otherwise I'll stick to the bootleg version

I am definitely looking forward to the expanded and collector's set. Then again, I just want a new album!

Been on a major kick lately, since getting Some Kind of Monster on Blu-ray. Haven't gotten around to St. Anger yet, but I've always had mixed feelings. Hate that fucking snare, but I can't deny that the songs themselves were pretty awesome in their own way. Lyrically it hits deeper emotional resonance than probably anything they did before that.

St Anger's a fun album... I regularly have cravings for Frantic and The Unnamed Feeling

It's a bit repetitive and therefore too long but other than that it's not so bad, it's nu-metallica

yeh most if not all the tracks were unnecessarily long.

I know man, who could forget the lyrical genius that is "Invisible Kid"? Not since Dr. Suess has such lame combination of rhymes existed. I think I just insulted Dr. Suess! But seriously, I am a Metallica fan! I like EVERYTHING besides St. Anger. That album makes the Lou Reed album seem like freaking The Wall! I just laugh every time I listen to St. Anger and think, "Why didn't someone stop them?". The vocal wailing in the middle of this song sound like a retarded dog that is dying. Anyways, laugh away!

    "Invisible Kid"

    Invisible kid
    Never see what he did
    Got stuck where he hid
    Fallen through the grid

    Invisible kid
Got a place of his own
    Where he’ll never be known
    Inward he’s grown

    Invisible kid
    Locked away in his brain
From the shame and the pain
    World down the drain

    Invisible kid
    Suspicious of your touch
    Don’t want no crutch
    But it’s all too much

    I hide inside
    I hurt inside
I hide inside, but I’ll show you...

    I’m OK, just go away
Into the distance let me fade
    I’m OK, just go away
I’m OK, but please don’t stray too far

    Open up your heart
    I’m beating right here
    Open your mind
I’m being right here, right now
    Open your heart
    I’m beating right here
    Open your mind
I’m being right here, right now

Ooh, what a good boy you are
Out of the way and you’re kept to yourself
Ooh, can’t you see that he’s not here
He doesn’t want the attention you give
    Ooh, unplugging from it all
Invisible kid floats alone in his room
Ooh, what a quiet boy you are
He looks so calm floating ‘round and ‘round in himself

I do not want to see Lars in a thong. Those lyrics of "Invisible Kid" is fucking awful.

St. Anger, the song, is good. One of the very few I actually like by the band at large as I think they're overhyped, overblown and one of the safest and most mediocre metal bands out there.

In true Canadian fashion, I'm morally and ethically obliged to look down my nose at American beer, so something something insert joke here about shitty overrated brands deserving each other something something.

I've actually been going back to the catalogue a bit lately. There is one goddamned fine album between Load and ReLoad.

If you take the first half of Load and then tack on "Wasting My Hate", "Fuel", "The Memory Remains", and "Unforgiven II", you've got an amazing record. For me, "Bleeding Me" is their best song from the 90's. But aside from the singles, Re-Load is pretty terrible.

I agree, taking the best of "Load" and some tracks from "Reload", you can get an awesome album!
I will just defend "Low Man's Lyric" (from Reload), i think it's a great song!

I'd add Devil's Dance (one of my favourite Metallica songs) and Where The Wild Things Are, but yeah, there's some great rock material between those albums.

No love for "Fixxxer?" Clearly the winner on Re-Load I would say.

I always liked them, too. It's weird you guys brought them up because I broke them out just this last week. I can do without Prince Charming, Better Than You, Bad Seed and a couple others, but overall it's good stuff.

St. Anger though, I still want my money back for that and I was a first day buyer.
