Judy Heumann, the mother of the Disability civil rights movement in the United States, died over the weekend. I had the great fortune to work with her on a couple of different occasions.
If you are Disabled, especially in the US, your life is directly influenced by Judy's work.
If you are a Disability professional, your work exists because of Judy.
For those of us who are both, we owe everything to Judy.

One of my early concerts was Skynyrd on the "One More From the Road" tour. Never saw them without Ronnie. Opening was Journey before Steve Perry back when Greg Rolie was the singer. Good stuff. There was another band, too. All for $6! RIP

RIP. Sadly, much work remains. It seems like it's always 1 step forward, 2 steps back. I'm pretty badly disabled & her work is much appreciated. An example: I bought some lower priced Springsteen tickets for a show last Monday. They were supposed to be ADA seats. When I got there I found that the arena had classified seats that you didn't have to use steps to get to but no other accomodations. I would've had to stand the whole show which I physically can't. I'm doing good to be able to walk from the car to the arena. I complained & the arena upgraded me to seats that were really ADA. Of course they tried to pass the blame to Springsteen. This sort of thing happens all the time. A few years ago the city of Seattle was planning to take away street parking privileges from the disabled. I & many others wrote strong letters & the city backed off. Finally, some years back I took on Ticketbastard regarding ADA seats for the Seahawks. They had refused to sell them to me even though I have state ID saying I'm disabled. I went to the consumer advocate on one of the local tv stations & they did a story about it which picked up steam on the web. Ticketmaster tried to blame the Hawks even though they had nothing to do with it. Ended up getting an apology from the CEO of LiveNation & prime seats for a big game. TM also changed their policy towards ADA seats.

On that note, hearing about Tom Sizemore dying made me look at his wikipedia page, and holy shit that guy was... something. His life sounds like a complete trainwreck.

I'd recommend watching In Cold Blood. He was actually a really good actor with a bad childhood. Not saying that as an excuse of what he may or may not have done. That trial was a mess.

Robert Blake, whether he killed his wife or not, Baretta was TRULY something special. When I first left my parents' house, I moved in with a friend and went from All Cable Channels to Old School Rabbit Ears. Baretta reruns became my bread and butter.
Also, damn. That's two more David Lynch heroes down.
And fuuuuuuuck me. Not Richard Belzer! Not Munch! I could have done without knowing that. :/

I mean, i lived in a BIG ass population center and caught a LOT from 120 Minutes, too: stuff i might not have otherwise caught.
They played Rockin' Stroll by The Lemonheads , for instance, and the Lemonheads became one of my all time favorite bands.

He played Porno for Pyros...i had the t-shirt in the eighth grade.

Lance had a special touch in everything he was in. He had a presence that few actors have in everything he was involved with, and I will miss him.
I'm saddened to see him pass away, but we will always have The Wire, Bosch, his voice acting in the Destiny franchise to celebrate his career as well as many other amazing works.
A salute to Lance Riddick and all the years of astounding acting!
May you rest eternally now, and may your family and friends find some comfort in knowing that you have entertained us with your most amazing performances.
