Okay finally home and settled so a few things about the show

    • They had these shirts on sale for $25 (RJK - yours is going out in the mail today!)
    • As mentioned, the set was 5 songs long and he said on Twitter he was playing "half the album" which means it should be around 10 tracks total
    • Billy's manager Dino mentioned before the show that after the release of the first single Poison Flowers on March 4, there will be more single releases before the full record comes in the "Spring" - to my knowledge no firm dates have been given for the full record release.
    • Danny Lohner helped produce the album
    • Billy did not play his trademark cinnaburst Les Paul at the show and stuck with his black Les Paul the entire set

There are a few tracks posted to IG
New song - This was the first track of the night
    Trafficking

ALSO, this is a long shot but there was a man standing next to us who was talking to my husband that had apparently traveled for the show and he attempted to ask me a question and I was so anxious and stressed that I was incredibly rude and if that happened to be anyone here I want to sincerely apologize. I was really overcome with the emotion of the evening and I just couldn't bring myself to chat right before the show started. I didn't realize that you were a Billy fan that had also traveled in and you were also excited about the show until my husband told me afterward. I assumed you were an Our Lady Peace fan that was just making conversation and I couldn't be bothered in that moment so I'm sorry for being such an asshole.

His vocals sound really fantastic in that IG Trafficking clip above. Huge improvement since that old Orestes demo.

He reminds me of two vocalists meshed together. A little bit like Dave Gahan, a little bit like someone else. In any case this all sounds promising.

The mood and energy in this is really great. So is the depth to the mix. Billy’s vocals have definitely matured in a lot of ways.

I’ll admit it didn’t hook me until a second listen. I’m not sure if it’s subtle, the coffee hadn’t hit yet, or I was more focused on peeling apart some of the sounds. I’ve always loved Billy’s bass parts.

If you’re on Apple Music, you might have to use the link from here. A search didn’t bring it up this morning but I’m hoping that changes soon.

It's definitely not a first timer. There are no catchy melodies, and the scansion of the lyrics is a bit odd. My first impression was that it didn't hook me right away but also that I'm excited to listen to it 100 more times over the next few days. That's how I feel about most music I end up loving forever, so that's a good sign.

listening to this with headphones, or just really loud, def. helps. This technique also helped me tolerate the first Chili Peppers single from a few weeks ago.

“Scansion” is my new favourite word.

I like this one song more than every second of Eat the Elephant. Looking forward to the album!

I didn't come away singing any of the parts or the chorus, but really dig the vibe of this song. I went on a Fields of the Nephilim kick afterwards \M/

Wow, he got Greyson Nekrutman to play drums on the tour. That guy is a friggin' beast, will be really stoked to see them in July when they're in town!

So no Josh Freese. Understandable, between Offspring and Sting, it's hard to squeeze even more bands. Is Danny Lohner still there?

Highly doubtful, I don't think Danny has done a tour that extensive in 20+ years... seriously though, look up Nekrutman's work on YouTube, the kid has unbelievable chops and SWINGS like it's nothin':

"A Perfect Circle's Billy Howerdel is ready with a new album under his own name. We talk to Billy about "What Normal Was" (out June 10th), what's next for APC, and working with Axl Rose on Chinese Democracy."

@Jon, any major points worth mentioning? What does he say about the future of APC?

    edit: just listened to it.

    - He originally had a different album title in mind, which he may use again in the future, but didn’t say what it was. His manager eventually suggested he use his name instead, and he thought it’d be a good idea after thinking about it.

    - No solid APC plans but “talks of plans” have started with Maynard once he’s done with Puscifer.

    - Some demo track titles of APC songs that Billy gave them (usually quite generic) Maynard has kept as the song titles. Didn’t say which ones. Probably DLB, lol.

It’s up now for me. Giving it a spin!

He also mentioned that every song is placed where it is on the record and has its purpose, so should definitely be listened to “as an album”. Also said he wasn’t nervous about doing his own vocals this time around, though he definitely was in 2008. Maynard encouraged him to “use his speaking voice,” but Billy read between the lines with what he was saying.

This song just hits right out of the gate and keeps going. I’m absolutely head over heels for this.
