I went from being an order selector in a warehouse to a production technician in a manufacturing plant. I'm very grateful for the substantial increase in salary and much better working conditions. I had applied for the position over four months ago. The new manufacturing plant wasn't ready to produce yet. But now it needs entry-level production technicians that come from different backgrounds to help give a different perspective on the baking industry. The two production supervisors were impressed by my enthusiasm and my perspective. I feel very lucky and grateful. I hope that everyone gets their big break if they are looking for a better job. After 30 years of my life, I've been given a great opportunity and I won't squander it. Thanks.
My wife and I bought a new house in November. It's fantastic.
At the age of 45 I became a dad last week. My son is beautiful.
ssssssssssssnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww ing like a mofo.
if my joy could be felt through the monitor, y'all would be spastic right now.
woop woop woooooooooooo.
Massive amounts of elation today! My heart has been pounding for the last three hours as I've worked on the final sound design for my next film. It's an incredible feeling to see it all coming together after so much difficulty with software, not to mention it's two years, 300,000 photographs and a Kickstarter campaign in the making.
Oh, and I also told my whole Mormon family I date trannies. So that's nice to get off my chest.
300,000 photos... that's absolutely insane (and awesome).
My band is flying out to Austin, Texas at the end of the month because we were selected as semi finalists in Belk's Southern Music Showcase competition. If we do well there, we'll be going back to Texas again later on, as well as back to North Carolina (we haven't been there in a while).
Even if we don't win and don't have any other shows while we're there and end up losing money, I'm still excited just to be going. The experience itself will be enough for me.
My band is getting ready to release our first EP in April. It's nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time. There is a label behind it and it's going out to distributors as well. We recorded it at Tiny Telephone Studios (John Vanderslice's studio) in SF last October, so it will be nice to finally have it see the light of day.
About to renew the lease of the house I've been renting with a few friends. I haven't lived any place longer than a year since my childhood, so this is a big deal to me.
I'm in a healthy, stable relationship for the first time in 6 years. My dating life has been a nightmare over that span, so I'm still getting used to this, but we make each other happy and we work/communicate well with each other.
Lots of reasons to be happy nowadays.
Recieved notification today that I have been selected as a Stanford Hollyhock Education Fellow for the next two years!! More info about the program is here: http://news.stanford.edu/news/2013/o...ip-100913.html

I had Lasik yesterday after 18+ years wearing glasses. I woke up this morning and went to my post-op check up and I've got 20/20 vision for the first time since middle school! It should get even better by next week. Doctor projects that I'll end up with 20/10 when all the healing is done. I am so glad I went ahead and got this done!
