Got the two classes to do in march and a booklet thing plus some A.A. meetings to go to in the mean-time. Looking like April/May I'll be driving again. Like really this time.

i had band practice yesterday for the first time in forever! just me on drums and my friend jon on guitar/vox. we wrote and demo'd two new songs (he had lyrics ready to go that worked for one of them), reworked a song by our old band into a sultry/lounge-y version, and reworked one of our own songs into a completely different version (which we also demo'd). very productive night.

dealing with drunk obnoxious assholes at a bar while working can be a hassle, but sometimes it is enjoyable.

Some preppy dickhead started picking a fight with some super nice guy for no reason, and then as the guy tries to just leave he mocks him with this "walk awaaaaaaaaay! Yeah, JUST walk away." The guy then gets pissed and turns around and says "what did you say? Did you tell me to walk away?"

I step in, tell everyone to calm down... The guy relaxes and leaves as I tell the preppy fuckhead "he's leaving, please don't antagonize him while he leaves."

He says "I just told him to walk away! Do you understand what those words mean?"

So I say yes, I know what that means, and I understand how you meant it to register. You were antagonizing him. Context matters. He gets this smug smiley look and says "Y'know what? I don't think I want to talk to you anymore."

So... cool! I don't want to talk to you anymore either! So let's just put this in words that you claim to comprehend: Walk away. If that didn't make sense: fuck off. Get the fuck out of here with your stupid v-neck collared shirt. Leave the premises. You are not welcome here. WALK awwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. You're 86'd, and so is your friend here if he tries to butt in again in your defense.

I was just appointed as a mod in a Facebook group of 48,000 members today. The subject matter isn't really important (Marilyn Manson lol) But more than anything it means a lot that the current admin team trusts me enough to help wrangle and maintain that many people.

Today marks 8 years since I have smoked meth. However, in the last few months, I've started using Adderall about three times a week while doing school stuff. And I've done it just for the fuck of it on the weekends a few times. So take that for whatever it is worth.

Today also marks 24 years since my father went to rehab and quit drinking.

So my brother is really, seriously giving me a car.
I know i mentioned this before, but then one of his cars broke down and he needed the car he was going to give me.
Now, i just have to get my license (driving test and all) and then ride halfway to denver to meet him.
I am so fucking excited. I haven't had a car since like 2000 because i didn't really need one as dallas has the biggest above ground rail system in the us and a good bus system.
But being here in a remote town of 1800 or so people, i have felt pretty damn isolated.
I will be making frequent trips to denver to chill with my brother and his family, and it will be awesome just to be able to drive the 90 miles to amarillo to go to the movies and such.

In the summer, i got like 100 of them.
But this time, Dollar General didn't get any. The only place that got them only got 24, and i just scored 20 of those.
The manager told me that they MAY recieve another 24 tomorrow.

I REALLY wanted another hundred but will have to be happy with my 20.

I wonder what in the fuck they are building up to with this. I can't figure it out.
Last summer they said it was a one time thing. My wife and i got like addicted to the fucking things and it was heart wrenching to run out.

Then the pepsi dude told me that the big secret was that there would be more THIS summer.

And then they came out with a surprise run last week i guess?

SURELY they are creating hype for a full on relaunch, because seriously, what do they gain by doing this?

But like i said, these supplies are supposed to be even more limited than last summer's supplies, so if you want one you better act now, @allegate

Every year of my thirties has been at least twice as good as the best year of my twenties. If a little less dramatic. I was also certain I'd never live to see that age, and I went out of my way to prove myself correct on that account, so perhaps we have similar mindsets in that respect.

Yeah thirties are some of the best years. You relatively know your shit, you're familiar with your own demons and insecurities so they don't trip you by surprise so much, indeed sssssssssoooooooo less drama, and you can just enjoy being yourself and loving all the shit you love while having your shit together.

You get the best of youth and the best of maturity. Enjoy !

Well its not that bad, it's just the realisation that we're not young anymore, and that we better make the most of it. It starts to be a bit scary, and the things we do we have to make them count.
Basically, in your thirties you still live under the same assumptions than in your twenties :you're young, your world is vast and time is infinite. Once you hit forty, it dawns on you that things have narrowed a tad.

Things aren't bad : we just can't live under the assumption that they don't really count anymore.
