Some of you may recall that my dog Ruby had broken a toe and had surgery to remove it back in late June to check to see if the bone was potentially weakened by something cancerous. I forget if I ever posted that it came back long ago that it wasn't cancerous, thankfully. But I'm pretty sure I posted about how there were some complications after the surgery and the stitches needed to be removed, making it so she had a giant open wound on her leg. For over a month we visited the vet twice a week to change the bandage, and she's been restricted to basically no activity and has needed to wear a boot over her bandage for outdoor bathroom visits. You can imagine this has been challenging for a young, high energy dog to accept. She's been on drugs to chill her out all that time as well.

On Tuesday we visited the vet again and this time she left without a bandage on her leg, as well as the go ahead to start increasing activity again! I've been easing her in to more activity over the course of the week and we just did our first off leash walk on the loop in the woods behind the house since before her injury, well over a month ago. She was SO excited when I picked up her collar with the bell on it to put it on before going outside, she clearly knew what was happening. So glad to be starting to put this behind us finally. It's been a long month and a half.

Finally getting some highway miles in on my motorcycle bike. Put on 102 miles in 2.5 hours tonight. It’s eastern South Dakota so basically like riding graph paper but still it’s fun.

Sorry to keep spamming this thread with dog posts, but I've had a lot to be cheerful about with my dog for the first time in a while. Got her to go swimming for the first time since I've had her today!

My friend told me that iamamiwhoami's "Bounty" album is a hit with the entire family. The kids are all about it.

I had to stifle a laugh when I saw a gal with a Korn logo tattoo on her back. The letters were easy 12".

34/50. Given that some of the stuff is a hard NEVER I think that's pretty good.

I was stunned to see a young lady with a giant back of the leg tattoo, like, on the other side of the shin Edit: aka CALF,.JESUS I think I'm getting early stage Alzheimer's, of Korn album artwork. This was at Six Flags Over Texas, in 99 or 2000 or so.

We, my brother and I, asked her what in the holy hell she'd think of it in 20 years. I wish I could ask her now.

Good friend of mine in Texas told me to expect a package tomorrow for my birthday. Sure enough, got a notification from FedEx that there's a 15 pound package coming from The Salt Lick, which is perhaps the best known Texas BBQ place. Holy shit I'm so excited for tomorrow.

EDIT: It came today, but has to thaw for several days before it can be reheated. No BBQ for me today.

I don't do social media a lot. After my friend's memorial service, I Tweeted a dude named Daniel Victor last night. He's the mind behind the collaboration project Neverending White Lights. I've been using those albums to provide myself some catharsis, so I wanted to thank him for the relief and comfort they bring me.

It was extremely amazing to wake up to a DM from him today wishing condolences and providing some uplifting. It's so nice to see artists communicate with their fans in this way.
