I've been absolutely loving this album by Kinoko Teikoku. It's pretty shoegazey but also has some more straightforward tracks as well.

After my first listen I'm not quite sure what to think of the new Medicine album. Quite a perplexing release. It has some great brain-bending moments and "The End of the Line" is a stunning track, but it feels a little disjointed overall. It'll take a few more listens to truly form a solid opinion I think.

Not overly 'gazey. Sounds somewhat less noisy than the 90s stuff too. I'd peg it more with the dream-pop tag, with a heavy psych bent. The strongest tracks from my first listen are "Burn It", "The End of the Line", "Find Me Always" and "Pull the Trigger", which are the most immediate/catchy.

listening to the new medicine album for the first time as i write this, and i'm surprisingly impressed! it is a bit disjointed, but i like both the fast pace and the quick changes between songs. covers a lot of ground in a short period of time... and yes i do agree it's more on the dreampop side than the noisier shoegaze side, but as that's what i prefer overall, this is certainly welcome.

it's not as great as their two standouts, but obviously an unfair comparison to make. i certainly like it more than the new my bloody valentine album...

really looking forward to seeing them next friday for the record release show!

you should never pay more than that for a cocteau twins LP, unless it's the 90s stuff! most are priced between 10-20 in my experience...

    just heard this last night:

Hooray! A Slowdive (and Mojave 3) semi-kinda-reunion! The live album sounds very tempting.

Completely unrelated- Have been massively addicted to this band over the past week:

I love Lush. They never got their deserves, they never released a masterpiece album, or had a real hit, but they had some outstanding songs up there or arguably better than the greats. I think their first album is the best the compilation Gala from 1990 produced by Robin Guthrie. A really great pop band.
I really been loving this song.

    and this one

I was not aware of Inrain, but I'm glad it exists. AR Kane and Cranes are such a natural match.

Think its only a matter of time till a Slowdive reunion comes about, hopefully next year. Its usually Goldenvoice the Coachella booking agency in California which gets UK acts 5000 miles away to reform! They have an obsessional lust for UK Indie/shoegaze bands and offers acts millions upon millions to reform, when no one in UK expresses interest. Been reading the brilliant huge new book on 4AD and sent me on a dreampop binge of some of their lesser known acts.

A.R Kane i been feeling the most recently, they could have been huge, their music is so romantic and sexy.

Swallow, this song got sampled by The Chemical Brothers.

and in case you needed more slowdive in your life and are ok with the fact that this isn't slowdive, but instead a band named after one of the best tracks on disintegration:

been really enjoying this record lately... more in the dreampop vein, female vocals, catchy as hell.

'dreamtime' and 'in vain' are absolute killers. may have linked the former earlier in the thread...

Friend just turned me on to Immanu El from Sweden, and holy crap is this stuff right up my alley. Influences are pretty blatant: Explosions In The Sky, Hammock, Radiohead, et al

    Give it a whirl...

I quite like "Under Your Wings...". Thanks!

I've been devoting a fair bit of time to both of these bands lately:
