Really. To me it's different when someone says 'I want to own a gun to protect myself and/or my family.' That I get completely, it's the U.S. which is a giant cesspool in a lot of areas. But I'm talking a gun. A handgun. Not an assault rifle. Those are created for the sole purpose of killing multiple people. If you need an AK or like, an AR-16 to 'protect your family' you're full of shit. Protect it from what? Getting a lot of rogue SEAL teams with tac gear showing up at your place to rob your TV and family jewels?
It's typical American bs. Sure it's law, and the principle of it...it's a law. It's legal. But only an idiot would see tons of people snatching up AK-47's and think that anything good would come out of it. Look at places like Detroit and Windsor, ON. Ontario has waaaaaay stricter gun laws (and by stricter, I mean if you legally purchase a gun you can...but it's just kinda harder to get your hands on a fuckin' assault rifle). They're like 500 ft. apart, one of the closest places between our country and the U.S. Windsor went like 2-3 years without a gun CRIME...not just a murder, but a crime. Detroit has more than one gun-related murder every day.

Basically what this comes down to is limiting our own freedoms to maybe save a few hundred lives.
It's this type of hysteria that made airport security so bad you want to buy a gun.
In think the Unites States murder problem has more to do with their culture than gun control.
