Let's talk about NIN baby, let's talk about N.I.N.

    [admin edit: Split from NIN-spotting]

Oh, come on. It's much more a one-man album than lots of "proper" solo musicians' albums

If "Foo Fighters" is a solo album, so is "Pretty Hate Machine"...

    • All songs written, arranged, programmed, and performed by Trent Reznor
I think it's well deserved on this list.
Are all the drums programmed though? I never though about it this way and I though Trent drummed only at the end of Piggy

I assumed "Invaluable assistance: Chris Vrenna" meant drums might have come from him, or at least programming

I always assumed it meant that Vrenna grabbed a controller when Reznor was stuck in Super Contra...

Sure, and Eno deserves credit for Bowie's "Low", and Bowie deserves credit for Iggy's "Lust for Life", but they're still definitely Bowie's and Iggy's albums, respectively.

You guys don't get. It was Richard Patrick's Sanctified drone guitar that defined early nin sound, ya'll.

I just got around to watching the video. You all know that the video is clearly talking only about the performance on the album, right? And, although less clearly (i.e., not in the title), the video points out that an album counts if the one artist played a majority of each instrument. Even counting programming as performance, the album still fits the list's criteria assuming Trent did most of it.

It's funny because I believe real drums are on Purest Feeling. Sanctified specifically which I heard was basically the band doing a live cut in the studio. I could be wrong though.

I think I've read somewhere that Ron Musarra played drums on Purest Feeling (most, if not all songs). But none of those were used on PHM.

I also like the "haha" and "ha ha ha"s thrown into type.

Good read on all the bands.

I don't know who most of those people are, but I'm glad they're fans of Trent.

I think it's really nice that all these people took the time to appreciate Trent. And god damn he is 50. Just think about it for a minute, who do you know who makes music for 25 years and still being absolutely fucking relevant, who keeps pushing the boundaries. He single hendedly invented new ways to do film scores just three years ago.. this guy is a God. Just happy fucking birthday to you Trent. You really made a mark in a music industry and I'm very much looking forward to whatever you do, because I'm pretty sure that it will have its integrity the same way every one of your record did.

Did you guys catch Richard Patrick Instagramming - and subsequently deleting - a video and a picture from Trent's surprise birthday party?

Yes, I couldn't even see Trent anyway. It was posted on some facebook pages (which Richard Patrick joined himself)

As if that game couldn't get anymore of my love, I read this. I probably would've fucked the game disc at that point.

I hate how they made that assumption. "Oh, the logo kind of looks like the NIN logo. That MUST mean Trent would be involved!"

Not to mention that having Reznor host a metal station mkes as much sense as having Jourgensen host a country one. Scratch that, the Jourgensen thing actually makes more sense.

Yeah they made a HUGE leap there. And no way that was even a metal station. That would be the lamest metal station of all time.

(Not that they owe us constant life/work updates, to clarify. But man, it's dead around here.)
