This is probably not the right thread for this. Might be worth starting a new one (or perhaps a mod splitting this out?)

It's not very user-friendly and it's java, but it's very powerfull, especially with those kind of direct download sites, but also many video and audio sites

It is actually still available from nin.com: http://dl.nin.com/discipline/kroq
The only reference to that crappy Mp3HD format, in my archives, but also on ninnewsfr is Trent Reznor - The Social Network Five Track Sampler (MP3HD) (2010)

Actually it is the first time I hear about this format ! Reading the specification, and... I don't get the point of it.

Makes me think, is there somewhere a list of NIN songs (and let's say, versions, remix etc) with their maximum bitrate/frequency available ? Or, just a list of the HD songs (more than CD quality) available. Could be interesting thing to do.

not really much to list in regards to lossy compressed tracks, but worthy of note:

    remix.nin.com:
160-192 kbps - the fragile/tfa.com remixes (no, you don't, la mer, the fragile, the new flesh), vinyl mixes of tpd (aphrodite) and his (pk), instrumentals of tpd, deep, year zero and almost all of tds.
256 kbps - last butch vig remix.
not counting even deeper (tta love dub), closer (thrust) and illum tangendo (stella soleil) - those exist in cd-quality.

apple music connect: instrumental with teeth and the fragile - 256 kbps.

also technically lossy are various video edits that are on closure/vimeo/youtube but not worth listing them all because _video_ is the important part

Talking about Illum Tangendo, the FLAC version I got here: http://sistersoleil1.bandcamp.com/tr...y-trent-reznor
seems to be a FLAC made from MP3 when I looked at the spectre (don't have the tools here but it worth checking)

I think @jaimeleschips might have meant sample rate rather than bit rate, however

You're comparing apples to oranges here, though, because MP3 bitrates are not directly comparable to AAC (which was the format that the WT and TF instrumentals were released)

I read numerous times here that they're "equally shitty". There are people here who claim "if it's lossy i hear it". Whatever.
I can't say i'm one, but i was shocked by aforementioned Discipline presented in 96 kHz, it sounds so tight (for lack of better word) it puts to shame many other nin singles and deep cuts.

Well, for example I didn't know The Fragile and others existed in higher quality than CD.

    Me neither.

I think @ninjaw must have been referring to the multitracks for Year Zero (16/48) but that's "cheating" because they are unmastered, and even if you merge all the multitracks you don't end up with the "final" track for that reason.

No idea what the source for 16/48 Fragile is.

Use JDownloader to get the links. When they appear, choose "mega(dot)nz".
