The shortness of the album is the whole point, though. Eight tracks, eight cities, eight weeks, eighth album. That's the theme, that's the concept.
And plus, it's forty-five minutes. That's nowhere near an EP.
Anyone preorder this album? Does the vinyl come with a digital download as well? I'm not seeing any info on this on their website.
I'm excited for the new album and subsequent tour. Wasting Light was pretty awesome and I'm really interested in the concept of the new album. I wonder if it's going to be standard Foo Fighters with a little twist or we're talking a lot of experimentation.
Yeah, I think Wasting Light was their best album since The Colour and the Shape. It was classic Foo. With Pat Smear seemingly a full time member again, seems like this incarnation of the Foo's sure can write a good tune. Looking forward to hearing what's in store this time around. With the album only 8 tracks, and the total running time of 45 mins, that's almost 6 minutes a song. Those are some long foo songs, but that's cool, I like long songs that kind of progress as the song goes on.
only bad long foo songs were on One by One
I actually like "One by One"... :/
"Come back" is one of my favorites "long" songs by the Foo's:

Just when I thought Dave Grohl couldn't be cooler...now here he is, interviewing Barack Obama:
Saw them back in '96. Looking forward to hearing the new album.
I haven't watched TV for 11 years now (with the exception of the World Cup), but you bet I'm going to be bugging my friends with HBO, come October.
love this song.. that chorus....
Ah yes, Dave Grohl... the President of Music and CEO of Rock & Roll.

This is pretty rad. I put in for tickets for a couple of nights next week. It's a long shot, but ya never know!
I could only do Monday and Tuesday because I'll be out of town the rest of the week(and I'm actually supposed to leave Tuesday after work. So if I win, I'm sure it will be for Tuesday). So for my third one, I just picked a date later in the month. I would really like to catch Dave before he is gone, regardless of who is on. I won tickets to the Black Keys Live on Letterman thing, but never to an actual show.
I will be in NYC on Friday Oct. 17th (and not before)...and even though the Rolling Stone article mentions that the band will play on that Friday, tickets are not offered for that day. Website says: "the dates listed below are the only days on which we are currently scheduled to tape". Does anyone know more about this?
FF does Black Sabbath on night one. I must say, that was fun to watch
They're reeeeally dragging out debuting any of their new material (other than during those Sonic Highways snippets). AFAIK, no full songs are available yet (or have even been played), right? The short clip of "The Feast and the Famine" sounds pretty cool though.
I'm guessing they'll do some type of guest-singer thing each night and then debut a song on Friday, or something. It feels weird watching Letterman, since I haven't seen a full ep in maybe 5 years.
I think their deal with HBO restricts them from debuting anything until the show airs Friday.
For Chicago peeps, concert on Friday

I freaked out this morning when I saw this. I'm going to try my damndest to get tickets for this thing tomorrow. Haven't been to the Cubby Bear, but I know it's quite a small venue!
Edit: The Foos are going to have a busy Friday! Aren't they going to be coming from Letterman in NY (which presumably films in the afternoon) right to Chicago? Plus Sonic Highways debuts that night, too.
FF confirm that a new song will debut Thursday.
I get into Chicago Friday afternoon for my birthday. PLEASE LET ME GET A TICKET FOR THIS
Ugh. Didn't get mine :'( Sarah K, did you end up getting lucky?
If anyone ended up with an extra (extremely unlikely, I know), let me know
Currently in the "Waiting Room"... (so I'm guessing no)
Sounds like you got closer than me. I might just go stand outside on Friday and see what happens. Ugh. I got up sooooo early this morning to get back into the city in time for this. Now I'm exhausted.
