Peeping Tom, even though it's on a technicality since it's the only album released by Mike Patton for that side project.
    Error EP by Error.

    Them Crooked Vultures - Self-Titled

The whole band is amazing on this. Josh's guitar playing and lyrics are on another level too.

Funland- The Funland Band. They were ahead of their time, finally made one record, and disappeared into the strange world of Deep Ellum legend, never to emerge again. They were fucking AMAZING.
They were like, Blink 182 BEFORE that godawful style took over, except they were sincere, and didn't suck.
SERIOUSLY, check this track out. I miss these guys SO much.

Flipmode Squad-The Imperial: Good god. If you like Busta Rhymes, and you like raw hip hop, you'll like this.
Busta had the usual suspects: Spliff Star, Rampage the Last Boy Scout, and Lord Have Mercy, but we ALSO got a lot more Rah Digga (from Outsidaz and Fugees ) and a younger cat called Baby Sham.
This record was fucking AMAZING to me at the time, and I still love it now.
I think this track shows the talent of the whole group, in an old school "pass the mic" type of way.

What REALLY sort of SUPER fucking bums me out is that there are APPARENTLY TWO more flipmode albums recorded and done: both one that was meant to release in '03, AND, one that was recorded and supposed to be released in 2020.

    Ghosthustler- Someone Else's Ride
Another band I used to go see in the 214, these guys did a damn fine job of "bringing back the eighties."
When I described the band and the frontman to good ole kleiner/ @implanted_microchip a couple years ago, she said "WAIT! Are you talking about A. Polomo from Neon Indian?"
And, sure enough...fuck me. I WAS.
I didn't keep up with the post Ghosthustler stuff. I know Neon Indian is supposed to be badass, but I could walk to the Ghosthustler shows, so that was A Lot More Cooler, as they say in Texas.
I just found out this is NOW a Neon Indian song, so, whatever. It was Ghosthustler. They were badass.

Calways- This band gave way to Todd Deathrage's solo work, but I far prefer his work as Calways.
In FACT, I had to bother this dude on social media to get him to make this shit AVAILABLE.
Anyway, this record captures some of the beginnings of the No Depression sound that started in Deep Ellum and Lower Greenville, (and Chicago, for some fucking reason).

Ms. Lauryn Hill: The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

I'm a Fugees fanatic. And I'm a Wyclef man, myself: yes, Lauryn was the moat lyrical, but Clef had the concepts and I think he and Jerry Wonder did most of the production. I prefer Wyclef's The Carnival, AND, The Carnival 2, over Lauryn's record.
BUT, her record WAS pretty fucking good, and she did something that was sort of unprecedented: she crossed into.the mainstream, received a physical arm load of Grammy awards, and then decided to sort of Take The Money And Run. I have a huge amount of respect for that.

And my favorite track on THAT record is probably this one:

Oh Fuck, I forgot: Temple of The Dog by Temple of the Dog aka Chris Cornell and Friends- fucking GREAT record. If you're fortyish, you likely had this one on cassette. Also, fuck Txxxx R*"**" of Nine Inch Nails for making a cassette joke, but that's beside the point.

Best track? I love Hunger Strike, but there's also this one:

    Edit: I'm getting tired.

So, well, we must mention the Sex Pistols FFS. I mean...it's, you know...The Sex Pistols.
    Never Mind the Bollocks

Then I'd have to go with, and this is sort of cheating, but
Watch the Throne, by Watch the Throne. I mean, Holy Christ. Hov and Ye (pre public insanity). We got No Church in the Wild (with Frank Ocean). We got Ni**as In Paris.
    We got Otis.
And there wasn't really one imperfect song ON that record. Even if you "hate rap except for Eminem" because your casually... one of those casual people, check this out

    Madvillain- Madvilliany.
Madlib and MF DOOM aren't exactly a "band."
I could do the same with other DOOM projects.
But if you know, you know.

If not, HEY! Like hip hop, AT ALL? Don't know MF DOOM?
Try this! I guarantee he'll make you question your top five.

Edit: I spent like an HOUR on this.

Lusk consisted of Greg Edwards of Failure, Paul D'Amour of Tool and then future Guns N Roses keyboardist Chris Pittman.

A bit of Beatles/Pink Floyd mix

Those guys are a big ripoff. I mean, come on! The bass player tries to sound like the guy from Led Zeppelin!

This album is great but I don't consider it a one / done just yet. They claim to have loose plans to record again. Typically I'd think "yeah right" but Grohl is prolific and I think the stars will eventually align. I'm holding out hope.

Oh shit! Good call! You're about my age, right? At that point, I thought "well, hell. Coverdale ripped off like 3 or 4 Led Zep songs at ONCE with In The Still of The Night (The ocean, Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog) and he SOUNDS like golden era Plant. So I figured, he knows what he's doing.
So why not!? I thought it was the closest thing we'd get to a led zep thing, ever again.

My mom.and I loved that record.

I still play Shake my Tree with my amp turned up real loud, pretty damn regularly, on days that my hands are working.

    One Dove- Morning White Dove

Produced by Andrew Weatherall shortly after Primal Scream's "Scremadelica" album, this is a masterpiece of an album from 1993. It features blissed out electronics, dub, psychadelica..it's incredible and easily one of my favorite albums of the 90's. Pure euphoria at points. I strongly recommend this album as a hidden gem.

Here is one of the darker tunes on the album, some trippy electro dub.

This was a single from the album, some blissed out euphoric electronica goodness, guitar by Primal Scream's Andrew Innes, with some of my favorite lyrics about love...

    I'm 42.

People can say what they want about Coverdale (his Plant impression on Deep Purple's Live in Europe is probably his biggest offense), but he is a great rock singer, is very charismatic and had a good chemistry with Page.

Coverdale/Page was one of the few non-grunge/alt.rock albums from the early 90s that had some success. I love the grunge-scene, but Coverdale/Page was a fun anomaly that was refreshing for old-school rockers at the dawn of the Clinton-era. Poison, Warrant, Motley Crue, etc. could barely reach Gold (500,000) in the early 90s, while Coverdale/Page went platinum.

Coverdale has re-issued several Whitesnake albums with really nice boxsets, with bonus songs, live material, etc. David Coverdale has stated that Coverdale/Page will be given a boxset treatment at some point. I read that there are some unreleased songs in the vault that will hopefully be released.

    .
    That's what I thought. I'm ALSO 42.

    And Coverdale/Page:
    Well fuck yeah!
I wasn't being sarcastic, AT ALL.
I mean, yes, he ripped off Plant, but people were hungry for such a thing, and he did it WELL...to the point that that one guy...Johnny? Jonesy? Jack? Whatever his name was, he did a record with Mr Coverdale Page. I always forget who played guitar on that one.

Coverdale/Page was a GREAT record, and it's a good call.
    I didn't think of it.

YOU LIKE IT BETTER THAN PFP?! And who is the singer?
Okay. With all due respect, this is...como se dice en ingles...oh yeah! HERESY!

For me, whatever band Perry is in is PRETTY much Jane's Addiction..

I'M a better guitarist than Dave, ffs.

While we're on this topic, I'll mention Satellite Party's Ultra Payloaded.
I saw them at a club show in like '07.
They played SP songs, and JA songs, and PFP songs,.and it was fucking great.

You know why? Because any decent musician can play all that shit.

Edit: no offense @henryeatscereal , but I just do NOT see it.
PFP WAS 50% of JA, for one thing.
Secondly, this other band didn't feature any Perry Farrel
And finally, better than Meija? Cursed Female? Sadness? Packing 25? Cursed Male? Black Girlfriend? Bad Shit? Pets?
    Ouch! OUCH!
I was 12 and had the T shirt and everything: I got in trouble for wearing it in 7th grade.

    I LOVE that record.

I get that you disagree man, no offense.

To me, Deconstruction's first album it's an experimental trip that sounds nothing like Jane's Addiction and that's why i like it more.
I don't dislike Porno For Pyros first album; i love songs like "Pets", "Cursed Female" and "Black Girlfriend", but to me the album was the "safe" "Logical" band to do after JA, a continuation of the music of the original band.

"Deconstruction" it's in my opinion a more challenging interesting album that doesn't try to sound like JA and a new band in it's own right (sadly that didn't last...)
Of course, Navarro it's not a "virtuoso" guitarist or anything; but the guy is very creative and i'm glad he found a record to show that part of him, also Avery who i think is a very underrated musician.

So i don't think there's a "right" answer; liking one album over the other is just a matter or personal tase, not putting down Pyros first album, because it's a classic; i just find myslef listening more to "Deconstruction" lately.

Respeto tu opinión y no me ofendo que pienses deferente!

I do too. Ive been holding out hope for a 2LP repress with the bonus tracks from the CD, but that doesn't seem too likely at this point.
