I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but the Academy seems way too pretentious to even consider a 3 disc score. It's an awesome miracle that they considered and awarded TR&AR for Social Network, but I really just don't see them even openly diving into a 3 disc set.

Like I said, though. I could be wrong, and I hope that I am. I would love to even see just a Nomination two years in a row.

That's true, they get a specified soundtrack that is made specifically for the songs that show up in the film. For example, tracks "Complication with Outimistic Outcome" and "Carbon Prevails" we're actually used in The Social Network, so those tracks were omitted for the Academy reviewed soundtrack. The GWTDT film probably only incorporate half of that three disc package, making the actual songs up for nomination more likely to be chosen.

According to www.sf.se (official website for all things Swedish cinema) the movie will be around 2 hours and 40 minutes. In other words, it's shaping up to be scored from start to finish unless they cut the tracks in other to fit the movie, which they most likely will.

Thought I read they re-imagined some Social Network tracks differently (shorter or longer) for purchase. Any reason to think the same didn't happen here to end up with such a long album? Perhaps teasing out truncated themes, etc.

$300 is a little steep just for six 12" vinyl discs, but if bundled with a BD/CD/book/whatever, it's not out of the question.

I'm probably going all-digital this time around.

If I remember last year correctly. The Social Network had like a 5 track sampler first, the whole thing a few days later, and the physical weeks later. Maybe this will be similar?
