Wow. I just listened to 15 minutes of Fox News, and I think they've entered their grunge phase (self loathing).

    Fuck yes, Tammy Duckworth!
Shame they redrew the district lines so that I'm represented by Walsh now, but didn't get to vote against him for the coming term...oh well.

Marriage equality won in four states! Washington, Maine, and Maryland voters all approved same-sex marriages in their respective states. In Minnesota, voters rejected an constitutional amendment that would have only recognized heterosexual marriages as valid. (Granted, Minnesota already outlaws same-sex marriage. This is just a step toward finally overturning that stupid law.)

One of the unreported results of the final debate was that Obama kicked Romney's ass so bad that Phantom lost the will to troll properly.

I haven't seen an Obama speech in quite sometime. I'd kinda forgotten just how powerful a speaker he is. It was nice.

Now to see if he can actually get some stuff done. (Take that as both an excited call to action and sarcasm- it's a bit of both) Glad he got re elected though.

And what about proposition 37? Don't people want to know if the food they're buying is genetically modified? Monsanto ftw I guess.

If you know how the hot dogs are made, you don't want to eat them. I'd posit that either the same premise is in play or that voting on prop #s is a confusing mess.

reading Donald Trump's spastic tweets is recalling fond memories of the "turn those machines back on!!!!!!!" ending of Trading Places. Fuck you Trump, fuck you Glenn Beck, fuck you Karl Rove, and all the rest of you smug dipshits. You lost, and now you all at least owe America a humbling moment where you break into tears, scream, and claw your own eyes out.

Well done America! Well done indeed. I'm truly happy for you. And I'm a very bad person for laughing so much at the Fox News pics and at those of the Republican party.

And to those who want to move up north: Communist Canada does not want you either.

My girlfriend was attending class last night deep in the heart of Orange County (super Republican county in CA). Apparently when Obama won pandemonium broke out. A group of students burst into her class and had to be thrown out by the professor twice, and some guy started crying. They were demanding proof that Obama won. People all over campus were either fighting or cheering.

    FUCKING ORANGE COUNTY.

oh the sweet suffering. I should really put in a concerted effort to enjoy this less, but it's very hard.

Yeah, it's this kind of thing that's going to keep pissing me off. I'm very happy that Obama won. Not perfect, but a step in the right direction, and I'm not convinced that elections can really be anything more than that.

But looking at the totals of popular vote, reading blogs, and hearing about shit like this . . . half this country is still asleep. What the shit? How can you not understand by now that Obama is not some CryptoMuslimFascistCommieKenyan bent on destroying America and rigging elections. How can you still believe in a radical left conspiracy and that it is, somehow, in control? I'm actually pretty pleased with the level of discourse and reporting over the issues these last four years. People dig up old speeches. People actually go through and parse issues to explain why X is a valid take but Y really isn't. How can this not have rubbed off on these folks.

I was hoping not just for a win, but for red America to wake up, maybe just a little, from that Cold War thinking. That in another 4 years, people might be able to admit that they were off base to be all worked up, even if they still disagree about one policy or another. And it does not look like it's gotten any better at all. Fuck.

The one change you might see progress on is conservative politicians looking to be more inclusive in the future. Obama absolutely killed them with every minority and women. That might be a good thing for equal rights, even if it is pandering.

    Also, this:

    GOODBYE ROMNEYBOT 2000!
