I've been listening to a lot of Wu Tang as of late. I forgot how bass heavy ODB's first album is.
Worst WU song is definitely Black Shampoo. I'd rather drink shampoo than listen to it.

There's a new Nas track that's pretty dope. I love seeing him killing it so far into his career. Especially since he had that mid career slump where a lot of people wrote him off.... or at least his ability to pick beats.
So without further adieu... I've Spotify-compiled something that tries to makes sense of the mess that was I am... and Nastradamus, while keeping with the spirit of the original idea for Nas' third album; an autobiographical narrative.
A lean 45 min ride that makes sense as a story told. I've been listening to this all day. If you're a fan and have enough whimsy to imagine that this was the actual follow up to It Was Written, you won't be disappointed.
I was tough to not include Come Get Me and/or Blaze a 50, these are some of my favs, but they did not serve the narrative and had to go. Hope y'all like it!

I get the late pass on Symba. Good lord:
Hey so I made this playlist on Spotify of various artists whose tracks i listened to a lot growing up, they're all huge bangers IMO
Maybe there's something in there you'll check out. There's no real order to the tracks, so they probably don't flow together well as I'm no DJ but let me know what you think of my selection.

So I guess I'm kind of barking up the wrong tree here, considering I'm posting this in a thread just called "Rap Music," but what did you guys think of Bone Thugs vs Three Six Mafia on the Verzuz?
Bizzy Bone has a terrible throw, that's for sure.
Good stuff.
I love how this super woke board has a catch all thread called "rap music" that's 12 pages long.
ANYWAY, so we got a new Dr Dre with Eminem, and Dr Dre with Snoop Dogg, BUSTA RHYMES, and Anderson Paak!
I just really, REALLY hope this little 6 song GTA thing isn't all Dre was working on.

Most of my favorite hip hop isn't "woke," but it's definitely on the more conscious side: Fugees/Wyclef Jean, OutKast, Blackalicious, Subtle, Digable Planets, Earl, Tyler, Chance, Arrested Development...even Busta Rhymes/Flipmode, MF DOOM and Jay-Z are more on the backpack rap side of things. I don't get into a lot of the gangsta shit, really, except Bone Thugs and Snoop and such.
Speaking of Snoop, and Doggystyle: my parents had this record that was really dirty like, sex joke type of songs, that I found when I was a kid. I can't remember the name of the artist.
It occurred to me today that Doggystyle has a lot in common with that old record, though, whoever made it.

Maybe the album your thinking of was by Blowfly? He was the first person to ever make dirty rap and most of the songs had a comedic tone to them. In fact the song Blowfly's Rapp was sampled in Indo Smoke by Mista Grimm which is coincidentally playing in the intro skit to Snoop's Murder Was The Case.

@Jinsai ..."elec...electronica thread?"

They have BARS in Indonesia! Who knew?
When was the last time that a Eminem verse was good tho?
Love the Office Space soundtrack, and I'm not super into rap. It's a great soundtrack and perfect for the movie.

That's a song from the album "The Diary" by Scarface. It's one of the greatest rap albums ever. I urge you to check it out.
Oh shit! Nearly 24 years later, Black Star is back.

The fact that Dirt McGirt is in now the Library of Congress is surreal.
Anyone remember Da Ruckus? From the Detroit underground scene in the 90s?
They dropped a new jam recently.
