Sad stuff, havent been into them since Meteora days, but the older stuff got me teared up. Especially the instrumental Numb at the end.

Glad I got to see them early on, at Ozzfest 2001. Ive seen on bootleg lists there is a recording from June 16th 2001 and that is the show I attended. If anyone has a copy please let me know.

Don't you think it would of been stupid to go into the crowd when your lipsyncing? Besides if you watch the live videos from fans and the stream, you can see the stream fucked up

Been verified by Mike Shinoda on twitter that Oli Sykes was actually singing live. Don't know what was up with the streaming.

Yeah I first thought the stream was out of synch but then read some comments and wasn't so sure.

Oli actually said on twitter that they used the rehearsal vocal from the previous night on the stream.

I thought the show was great. A little messy, and the stream had some mixing issues that were frustrating, but truly a worthwhile tribute.

I think if the five of them "rebooted" so to speak with Mike as the sole frontman (and with new material - essentially a brand new band, I guess), they could do well. He was completely in control for the whole show. His singing voice has also improved by leaps and bounds since he first started singing on albums in 2007. I'm interested to see what they do next.

I've been listening to a lot of Linkin Park lately. Their music got me through a lot of tough times. RIP Chester.

Man...watching all the live stuff and i have to say...Chester was always on point.

There is like close to no live footage of him sounding off key, tired or all that...he was always on point, and for someone who screams like he did..to be able to keep going after something like Given Up and still sing like 7 songs more is not exactly heard of very often.

Chester was really a one of a kind singer and I miss him so much..he helped me with my life just like he helped millions of others.

    I hate depression so much

Something else I'd like to say. It truly amazing how absolutely livid everyone was about OML...

While, until his death, it was understandable towards Chester since he wasn't acting his usual self...to say the least, everyone else in the band got an equal amount of hate for no real reason.

There was an article with Brad on UG going on how he was part of the process of making the album and how he was happy and proud he was on making it, no bad language or ego.

    https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news...of_guitar.html

Now look at these comments...so pissed off.

Now lets talk about that sell out thing.

I truly believe they had every intention of doing a pop album because, as mentioned before, during Recharged, mike had made some stuff that Rick Ruben said "sounded really poppy". There was a very good chance The Hunting Party never would of happened or they just switched places. I said before that OML was started in late 2015, aka before The Chainsmokers came back. And while i think most of the album is kinda.....bland, it's not unlistenable. To me, it was just another experiment....but it didn't exactly work out well. I never once thought they were trying to suck Billboards dick for a number one spot.

Now the last thing i want to say is about Chester's anger.

You may have noticed this, but people with Depression tend not to get angry, that goes for me as well.

Because when a severely depressed person actually gets angry....well....you remember when I talked about im always having violent images of doing everything I can to make a person feel like shit? That happens.

We never saw it with Cornell but we saw it with Chester. I myself have gotten that angry, only a few times too and it's not pretty. I've told my family that they were useless, a joke, worthless....i even told my mother to "Shut her fucking whore mouth". She got temporally afraid of me....and im pretty harmless.

This is why depression is such a big deal. The biggest problem is you can't actually see depression itself. People have this stupid need to physically see an illness for them to even believe you and it needs to stop. You cant physically see a heart attack so why depression suddenly treated different then any other disease? Do i have to go into more detail of my mental images? Cuz i really don't want to.

Scott Stapp said it perfectly "treat depression as you would with any other disease like cancer and stop judging them".

Quit putting words in our mouths on how we were selfish and a coward for suicide when most of us didnt get a chance to say no...or even had a choice at all.

Has the band said if they will continue with a new singer, just Mike, change the name, etc?

    No not yet.

One last thing id like to say.

Since ive gone into detail of what its like to live with Depression, songs like Crawling, Easier to Run and Breaking the Habit become a lot more serious right?

It always bothered me that people called them whiny or too angsty. I often wonder if people even know what angst even means. For those curious, it means Anguish, Anxiety and Fear...not melodramatic overblown "woe is me" lyrics. By its definition alone, you could use Angst for Alice In Chains, 95% of blues artists, Ed Sheridan, Radiohead and even Pearl Jam.

I find it pathetic it takes a death of someone as famous as Chester to make people realize this, it's almost insulting to me.

Alright I'm done ranting, blasting Meteora now

So Mike, Brad and Rob were at the American Music Awards because the band was nominated, they won the award and were on stage to accept it. I guess there was some security mishap and after they left the stage to enter the crowd again they were kicked out!

The LAPD escorted them off the premises!

I just see him retweeting and posting links about it, i don't see anything indicating that he's trolling? Not saying it isn't possible although i find it to be a pretty strange thing to joke about :/

EDIT: Although now that you mention it, only a small number of websites decided to report on it and watching those instagram clips again, there isn't THAT MUCH fuss going on considering the situation.

So, after a long time, my opinion on One More Light, the entire album, changed quite significantly, I think I was really too hard on it, I was not open minded at all, I am not sure if my opinion changed due to the tragic events, I don't know. But I know my stance changed and I regret all what I've said heavilly, even if I didn't like the album that much, my tone months back was awful, I learned a good lesson to respect the artist, no matter how much I like or dislike their art, even if I think what they have done is something I really really do not like, I can always express it in a way that doesn't make me look like a screaming asshole. I'm honestly embarassed looking through my old posts.

To go track by track, I am still not very found of Nobody Can Save Me, the chipmunk effects are still very off and they do not work quite well, I think they are at their worst in this track, but I'd like to mention that the lyrical content throughout the entire record is pretty strong. The message it is trying to send is very strong, it is unfortunate that the message of hope and holding the entire album tries to potray has been followed by the unfortunate events that proceeded.

Good Goodbye is pretty good, little cheesy though, that is my main complaint with the album, it can come off as cheesy at times.

Talking To Myself is a banger, one of the best tracks on the album right next to the title track.

I am torn on Battle Symphony, it is powerful and inspirational, it has those chipmunks which don't add much to it, but the chorus is pretty big and inspirational.

I pretty like Invisible, I really like Mike getting in-front for the vocals, the message is very emotional and honest, I really like this one. This song kinda signifies what makes it so different from other Poppish albums, is its pretty good lyrical content in my opinion.

Heavy, I actually really like this one right now, the tune is really nice and the vocal performances are nice, the lyrics are angsty yet pretty grounded. I actually really like the use of female vocalist, the collab seems to work well.

Sorry For Now, reminds me of Invisible, I like certain breaks between the choruses, even if they have chipmunks again, there are some nice instrumental effects here. I am really found of the outr o with Chester's and Mike's vocals

Halfway Right, very reminsicent of Battle Symphony, but I think I like this one much more, it seems like a better version of that song if that makes sense.

One More Light, there isn't much that needs to be said, this may be one of my favorite tracks from the band, the feelings of losing someone is perfectly shown here, it is really hard to listen to. I also really love that subtle Chester's scream that is pushed way into the background.

Sharp Edges, folsish and poppy, pretty mellow. I am much bigger fans of the verses, the chorus is little too "bombastic" but it is a very up-lifting note for the album and nicely describes its message it wants to send out.

So, that is my stance on the One More Light as of right now, which I felt like sharing, for some reason.

He has been posting a lot of jokes and funny stories on there, probably to try and brighten up his fans whom are probably still sad over death of Chester. I think Shinoda's a funny dude.

I like this new stuff a lot. It feels very off-the-cuff, with enough thought put into the songs for them to be good to listen to, but still feeling a little spontaneous and chaotic. The videos really enhance that feeling, too.

Mike also said during his Twitter Q&A that he had a lot of other music in his pocket, and he was going to gauge the reaction to this first EP and go from there. I think, realistically, any reaction was going to be a positive one, so I'm looking forward to hearing more. And I'm interested in seeing what the band does in the future, how they cope and adjust. The only thing I hope is that they don't bring in another singer, even if they have an intentionally different style. Doesn't feel right.

Two singers I wouldn't mind them working with: Klayton from Celldweller, and Skrillex.
