I was the victim of a violent incident on the subway. I wasn't injured, but I was really shaken up by the whole thing. Then I came home and heard Chris singing Be Yourself with Audioslave on the radio. It was like he was comforting me from the grave.

Point of advice. If your learning how to sing, then any songs by Chris Cornell should be at the bottom at that list.

I have not learned my lesson yet

if you can't sing this song from day one, then you should just quit. It's so easy!

Actually its funny you mention something like Birth Ritual.

Literally the next day, i took the next day to warm up my voice, did a take on Black Hole Sun....and then i had Beyond The Wheel playing the backround.....and then i managed to do the chorus where Chris jumps to D5....but only the first chorus, i got winded out from doing that

The ironic thing is Cornell couldnt sing that song either....Check the live versions from a couple years ago. Brutal

Man...i forgot how depressing DOTUS is...

I think a few months back i gave the album an honest listen front to back...and i honestly think its much moodier then Superunknown on some songs.

Despite the unfortunate title, i still love Pretty Noose.
    Rhinosaur is great

And then Zero Chance....i...almost started balling...almost. But that song really hit me
Not helping that Chris said it was one of his favorite songs

    Ty Cobb is......interesting. Its like...bluegrass punk. It's strange...but its a jam.

Still love Blow Up and Burden

Don't really care much about Never Named, was never really a fan of the strait up fast rock songs like Kickstand

Applebite is....really strange. Probably the most experimental song they ever made. The hell were you listening to Matt when you made this? Its creepy but i like it.

I love Never The Machine Forever. Still have no idea what the fuck its about, makes about as much sense as BHS only Kim wrote this. Word salad but its good salad.

And then the next song happened...and i did lose it this time.

Tighter & Tighter in my opinion is the most depressing song that Chris ever made, more then Like a Stone, SH2H, Seasons...just......god...just read the lyrics...its like he wrote Like Suicide about himself.

    No attention....see never named

Switches open is pretty good...i like the melody and vocals

    An unkind.....see no attention

And then there is Boot Camp

When i first heard it...i though it had a nice melody...was pretty good nice lyrics....but...there was s part of the song that unexpectedly made me cry

    "There must be something else.
There must be something good, Far away
    Far Away from here"

Yeah...i...was honestly not expecting that line...and i lost it again when Chris sang

"Far away from here, and I'll be here for good....for good"

It's pretty short too...just barely under 3 minutes...it kinda reminds me of Black Gives Way To Blue.

    Both are under 3 minutes
    Both are sad as fuck
BGWTB is about Layne and im sure Chris wrote it about himself at a point of his life.
They are both the last track

I still think its a great album. A solid 9 for me. Underrated imo

    I still miss you Chris

You forgot "Overfloater", which for me is the crown jewel of that whole album and my very favorite SG song. That album is scattered AF, but I love it. I tend to think of 1996 as the year of a lot of albums that were misunderstood or considered "challenging" at the time.

I was thinking about the possibility of Soundgarden continuing with a new singer. After all, both AIC and STP have gone on to make respectable albums with new singers replacing iconic frontmen. But with Soundgarden, it just seems different. I wouldn't want to see "Soundgarden" with another singer, unless it was a one-off tribute show, with maybe multiple singers.

I hope not. Chris is likely way more difficult to replace than Stayley was. Alice and Chains can sort of get away with it because they still have one of the two vocalists. I kind of wish AIC never came back either. Just not into any of their newer stuff at all. Not a fan of Duvall either.

No, just no. Nobody should replace Chris. Soundgarden is over.

If you must have a Temple of the Dog connection by making Vedder do vocals live.

I'd rather see Soundgarden just be gone and done. They weren't around from 1997 to about 2011 so....we can do without them again.

It really is quite good, but a bit of a grower.

Its not bad...but compared to the other 5? Again it's not bad at all...but nothing really sticks out on me and i have gave it multiple listens. I think Blood on the Valley Floor and Bone of Birds had really good ideas but i feel like there could of been much more to make it great.

Black Saturday is also REALLY FUCKING HARD TO LISTEN TO AGAIN JESUS

Nah I'm good fam. I know I'd sound terrible. I don't know if I'd sound like I'm being murdered like you, but still awful nonetheless. Good job on recreating the music though.

yes my voice crackles, Yes i have a hard time keeping it in pitch...but the fact is...this was FUCKING HARD to even get on pitch. I dont give a shit if I sounded the way I did, thats my voice, im not chris, i never will be, my voice will sound diffrent, im still practising it. I dont mind you criticizing it, but at least put more effort into it. Not this Robert Christgau shit. Besides, Chris sounded like that at times...Face Pollution, Slaves & Bulldozers...the ending of Jesus Christ Pose to be in fact. just pointing that out.

Oh man, I was listening to the 02-08-2013 bootleg at the Paramount Theater in Seattle (which I attended) and after 'Burden in my Hand' Cornell says 'I like it I like it, tonight is good, a rowdy crowd...last time was good too. We are very happy to be back in doing this and we are going to be doing this forever, 'til one of us drops dead"...

    THE FEELS !

Wow, I really like this one. Kind of sounds like a cross between Soundgarden and his Higher Truth album.

Remaining SOUNDGARDEN Members Might Try To Do Something Together Post-Chris Cornell

    http://www.metalinjection.net/latest...-chris-cornell

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell passed away in May 2017 and the band's remaining members have not yet commented on if they'll attempt to carry on or not. In an interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd discuss everything from the recent statue of Cornell unveiled in Seattle to how they've been dealing with life after Chris's death.

In the interview, Cameron and Shepard say Soundgarden's remaining trio might get together at some point to try something, but they haven't really even hung out much as a trio yet.

“We’re just still taking our time and giving ourselves space to process everything,” Cameron said. “We would certainly love to try to continue to do something, figure out something to do together.”

“On a personal level,” Shepard said, “We haven’t even gotten a chance to hang out, just us three, yet. … We’re going through natural healing, then thinking about the natural next step.”

It'll be interesting to see if the trio does end up carrying on and how they choose to do so. Would they go back out under the Soundgarden name? Or would they rebrand themselves completely and go with a new lead singer?

STP and AIC are touring right now so why the hell not join them on a giant "we hope you don't notice our singers are different" tour.
