First day of holiday training for our swimmers today. Now a few well deserved Molsons, some left over pizza and wings, and re-visiting season 1 of Dexter. Fuckin' A.

Crap sfx and hot Thomas Gibson in Category 6: Day of Destruction, the perfect soundtrack to reading up for my Philosophy of Science mini-crash-course.
Also: discovering that JL Barrett's argument against religion as an adaptive feature is actually eerily similar to Kant's description of the emergence of the transcendental unknowables. I always knew the guy was a fraud.

Yeah, these days, I cling to the very tiny little things to get through the day. So figuring out a guy I thought was a bonehead actually is a bonehead, makes for a very good day.

It's nice to have another TV show I'm invested in. It's like being in the middle of a good book that you can't put down. Plus, watching it on DVD (yes, I'm poor) means I can burn through it without having to wait.

I don't know why, but I misread that as "The existence of the Fuhrer" for a second. Quite the double take.

I want to hear that Fixer got a hot shower by this point. It is cold here too (almost down to 0F or -some large number C) and hot showers are one of the things that cheer me up. All that stuff about not taking a too hot shower? Nonsense. The hotter the better.

No phone and no internet for two days at my friend's place was apparently the vacation I needed. As it turned out, I missed a text from someone who needed me in that time, but as bad as I feel for not being there for her, I feel like this break away from everyone did me more good than I ever could have done her.

It sucks to have to go back into work in a bit, but I feel a little more equipped to deal with the world now.

I did, finally, thanks for your concern! Plumbers came and only took an hour to put in PVC replacement pipes in, and it probably took THAT long because HE HAD HIS APPRENTICE DO ALL THE WORK! Turned the hot water tank back on and SHOWER CITY!

How telling someone I wear size 3 shoes lead to a head to toe massage & tickles in the middle of a nightclub.

My mom's health FINALLY coming around the corner - she had a numb/dead finger on her left ring finger. Subsequently, I pushed her to see a cardiologist. After her meeting with said doc, he recommended a heart cath. Two arterial stents on her left side = better health for her. She sounds like a completely different person and that makes me happy.

Also, finishing my first semester of grad school with straight A's (A, A and A-) makes me happy.

    Loving life.

I'm visiting family in brasil right now, and yesterday watching tv i saw an ad on PUBLIC tv that really just made me want to cry- in a good way! It was talking about how discrimination is a CRIME and discrimination against homosexuals is no different, and to denounce any discrimination to the police.

    Made me really proud <3

Finally moving to a new place!
Leaving: four adults, a six year old, and a single bathroom in a 19th century (read: small) townhouse on an extremely busy/loud street.
Entering: quiet 1500 sq foot ranch with 1.5 bath and only one quiet and laid back roommate.

    Happy, happy day.

Giving up FaceBook. I never had a ton of people i din't know on my friends list but at the same time if had to look at another "love life, respect yourself" type picture or random emo bullshit (including my own at times) I'm gonna lose it. Sure you can go through and tune it but thats too much work. It's nice to not feel compelled to see what inane shit people were up too. I think i may return at some point just because my mom just got on and i started to get some of my nieces and nephews who i don't see often on there. When i do I'm only keeping to people i give a shit about and that i actually deal with. Than again maybe not, if people need to reach me they know how or someone who can.

Managing to sneak outta work couple hours early today, so I get to hit the gym and still get home in time to see me kid before he goes to bed; then hit Skyrim for couple hours.

    Sweet.

I need one too to get over my addiction to you-know-where.

As for what's cheering me up: going shopping with my best friend.

    ^^Glad to hear it, dude!

As for me, I've had the flu since Thursday afternoon. I've barely been able to get any sleep the last couple of days and I've eaten hardly anything. I'm finally starting to feel better, and am actually eating a decent meal again.
