    El-P

Arguably one of the greatest Hip-Hop producers/rappers of all time, his prolific career spans almost of a decade of ground-breaking material. With his upcoming follow-up to "I'll Sleep When You're Dead," I think 2012's "Cancer For Cure" has a lot of promise and could be one of the year's best releases. A few months ago El released a track with Adult Swim from the upcoming album that you can listen to here:

I think it's a pretty nice track but I have extremely high expectations for his next full solo album, however I've never known the man to disappoint. El's also been working (as far as I'm aware) exclusively as Killer Mike's producer on his next project, "R.A.P. Music" although I'm not a gigantic fan of KM's prior work.

If El-P's misc. work from 2011 is any reflection of what's to come this year, I'd say we're in for a lot of great music. If anyone's unfamiliar with his work, here's a few songs you might enjoy:

Company Flow's Last Good Sleep from 1997's Funcrusher Plus

El-P's Accidents Don't Happen from 2002's Fantastic Damage

Mr. Muthafuckin' ExQuire's The Last Huzzah ft. Das Racist, Despot, Danny Brown, and El-P

There's something in this man's voice, not sure how to describe it - he sounds so honest and convincing

I'm not usually into Southern hip-hop, but El-P's production here fucking kills! I'll be buying this album day one just because of him:

Definitely agree with you there. I haven't been a fan of just about anything coming from the south since Outkast's (but more importantly Goodie Mob) hayday, but I'm very stoked to hear this album. El really just keeps pumping out astonishing material on everything he's associated with.

It's been almost exactly five years since his last sublime album I'll Sleep When You're Dead. The new, uh, LP called Cancer for Cure comes out on May 22. Check out "The Full Retard" as a preview.

The instrumental is classic El and the end of the song was pretty wild, I thought. Getting more and more excited for this album now, I highly doubt he'll drop the ball.

Cannot stop listening to "The Full Retard". It's kind of embarrassing how many plays "Flyentology" has in my iTunes but this may surpass even that once it's released.

Are those promos any different than the album versions or just a special promo disc?

megamixxx has several announcements "you're listening to el-p's..." throughout, didn't compare radio sampler bit-to-bit, but Run the numbers (clean) is 1.5 min shorter

Probably because the end of Run the Numbers on the album is actually the beginning of Habeas Corpses (the synth breakdown). The same thing happened with the instrumental version; Run the Numbers is only 3:10 and Habeas Corpses is split into two parts, the first of which is the breakdown.

Can Ox's The Cold Vein is one of my favourite rap record. Amazing the whole way through. Alot of my favourite records happened before I was into a band or the scene that the band was a part of. This is one of the few albums is an exception to that rule. Lots of fond memories around this one.

If money wasn't so tight for me right now I'd love to get my hands on this Killer Mike deluxe, for only 45 dollars I'd say it's a pretty nice deal. Can't wait for this album (new track's available in the link) and the instrumentals are likely to be astounding:

Yeah, this album is super great. I know the Killer Mike LP is going to be at least as good or even better.

Listened to the record today. Now I'm feeling like punching a hole into the floor and screaming at my neighbours. And I mean that in a good way.

I'd say, it's his hardest record yet. Still have to listen to it a few times more, but I will be buying the cd, when it comes out, of course.

For about a year I've been in headphone limbo, meaning that I haven't considered my ipod to feel exciting no matter what albums I jam it with, which has lead to me not charging my pod with any new music in months. I almost thought that my relationship with music was over.

    That said...

This is the first record in over a year that makes walking around with headphones exciting again.
