Watching a rerun of My Stuggle...

...after they shot the alien, why didn't it bleed the black oil blood?

because the black oil is an alien virus. not all of them would have it.

Aliens always bled what the writer felt like that week, it's never been consistent. The first movie starts with an immature Grey (in the stage with the huge teeth and claws) literally bleeding the oil, setting the whole plot into motion, but in a later scene one of them has red blood. (The follow-up episode is centers around one of these things running around in Arizona while Mulder and Scully are trying to get proof of the virus's existence, yet the issue of the aliens' body containing the black stuff never comes up.)

There's also "The Unnatural" in the next season, the story with the Roswell baseball team in which everything established about the Greys' biology is ignored; here they belong to the same species as the shape-shifting aliens, like the bounty hunter and the faceless rebels, so now they have toxic green blood. It's best not to think too much about it.

(Anyway, current mytharc development states that all the ET stuff we've seen, presumably including the black oil and a giant ancient alien ship buried in Antarctica were nothing more than shady government people playing some funny tricks, so hey.)

Spoiler: That one kill scene in tonight's episode with the song playing in the background was a total homage to Home's Wonderful Wonderful scene!

Tonight's episode reminded me of the Kaddish Golem one from season 4 a bit.

    I thought that too.

The part where bandaid nose man ripped that guy's head off and you saw the spinal cord immediately made me think "FATALITY!"

    "Federal agents!" is back!

Character moments once again far outweighed a pretty forgettable case. Overall pretty enjoyable but not as good as the second ep.

I'm sad about Mulder apparently not remembering that Spoiler: killer tulpas exist and he already faced one in Arcadia. One of my favorite episodes.

It's not annoying me as such, but I do wish they'd stop shoehorning "I want to believe" into the script of every episode.

I do remember cringing just a little bit when Mulder said it last week, but I didn't notice it in this week's episode. When was it said?

Scully says it towards the end.

Why the fuck is this only six episodes? Like the cast and crew have something better to do? Whatever...

I'm loving the new stuff, bUT that first episode had me really worried.

i really liked this week's episode. it felt like a solid, proper episode of the x-files. it was weird to see tim armstrong (from rancid & op ivy) in an acting role but i think he did a good job.

the b-plot was obviously really depressing, but the a-plot was great.

also, @thelastdisciple the guy who played the band-aid nose man played a golem on a great episode of supernatural a couple seasons ago.

I KNEW that would happen in the B-plot, but it still killed me. Also, we finally got an 'appearance' from Charlie Scully, yay.

If there is going to be a season 11, I just hope that it resolves the William plotline. That's already starting to drag.

*skipping thread for now to avoid spoilers*

So I'd been enjoying the new episodes as they've aired, but now that I'm back at my gf's place I had to skip "Home Again" (irony!), because she wants to watch the ENTIRE series first, lol. Glad she's interested enough for all that, don't get me wrong! But tuning in for a random monster-of-the-week to get her hooked first or just doing something for an hour while it was on made more sense than waiting to watch a million old episodes first....but it's HER tv/cable/house and it was available OnDemand anyway so I figured w/e, I'd just watch it the next day.

Annnnd then I paused the episode midway through for a bathroom break and it was suddenly unavailable when I got back. WTF?!?

Same goes for the were-creature episode before it, although the first two were still up.

Anyway, they're both back now and I'm about to hit PLAY, w00t.

Just throwing it out there in case anyone else has Xfinity and wondered wtf was going on like me.

So...is it just ME or was an episode SPECIFICALLY structured around the subjects of motherhood/loss/abandonment-issues kind of a REALLY WEIRD/UNCANNILY APROPOS choice for the highlighting of Scully's, um, unbalanced nipple alignment?

    o_O

I'd still tap that if one nipple was on her nose and the other on her toe.

i can't believe that there are ALREADY only 2 episodes left, and one of them will be on in 48 hours.
I'm hoping to god that they are just testing the waters with the 6 episode format and that we will get at least 10 next year.
They billed this as a mini series, but they are also calling it season ten, and hell if it doesn't feel like the same old x files to me.

They shouldn't have called that comic book series "season 10" also.

Yeah, I don't think it will just be this six. "There's plenty more where that came from"...

Just saw episode 2. Much stronger than 1. Loved it, but both my wife and I were a bit freaked out as we're expecting our first baby in about 2 months time...

I got mixed up! TWD today and X-Files tomorrow. Although episode five apparently leaked a few days ago.
