No. GOD NO. Every long-running show has its good and bad moments, but the original run had far more highs than lows, especially through the first five seasons.

This just so happened to be one of the absolute shittiest episodes ever.

My wife and I are watching the old seasons on DVD right now and I have to admit that I never watched X-Files before I met her (I grew up without television and I liked it) but I fell in love with the show instantly. I was happy when I heard there'll be new episodes and we watched them with high hopes.
The only good episode was episode 3 or 4 (the one with the reptile guy who has the urge to work and get a dog) which was pretty funny, but the rest was...ok.
The last episode never built up tension and just felt like they had to push 3 episodes in 1 so they rushed through.
I was surprised how fast Scully made the infusion to save the world all by herself.
And I hate Einstein and Miller.

I think the penultimate episode of the reboot season would've been much better if it were spread out. They shoehorned every single bit of plot and detail into 42 minutes. The scope and size of that storyline should've been in a full season with about 5 to 6 episodes dedicated to it overall besides the Monster of the Week episodes filling the rest. 6 episodes was WAYYYYYYYYYY too few to make a concise "Mythology" based episode. If every episode were dedicated to it I'm sure it would've been a bit better done (all 6 episodes of the mini series).

I figured out the problem with the reboot - Chris Carter has either forgotten how to direct, or write, or both.

I am still on season 3. Back watching after a year or so. I have to say, I enjoy the stand-alone episodes far more than the mythology ones, which never seem to get off the ground and are rather anti-climatic.

I love the series but minus a few I'm not a an overly huge mythology fan.

My faves are 731/Nisei, Tunguska/Terma and Two Fathers/One Son.

@Ryan did you read the xfiles story though?
It doesn't sound as though it is set in stone.
I'm still concerned about GA's publicized refusal to leave the UK.

If they want it bad enough, though, they will just film it in the uk.

Sorry to be "that guy," but it wasn't a "reboot," i.e., Batman Begins, Casino Royale, but a relaunch.

There were a few great moments during this season, but many things felt forced and unnatural acting/dialogue-wise. The best episode was the one with Murray from Flight of the Concords. But the overall connecting story that was left unfinished in the end felt rushed and mishandled. Perhaps they should have just stuck with a movie instead.

Every time I see David D do promos for Aquarius or appear on talk shows promoting it or whatever I just keep on thinking what wasted time it is when he could be Mulder. Might be selfish of me but that's how I feel. *sad violin music*

Yeah, I was a little bummed when it got renewed. I immediately thought "what about xfiles!?".

I won't complain, I love him as an actor and any type of work he gets I'm glad for him. I dig Aquarius too.

I like it too. But if I had to choose between that and X-Files, obviously, I'd pick X-Files. And I'm not sure if the revival series was announced when Aquarius was renewed or not. Or maybe it made the possibility of a renewal seem less likely? I don't remember.

Almost done with season 3. Just watched "Quagmire" which I didn't like at all. Overall, it's a good season, mixed bag, but mostly good.

"That ain't no duck." hands down my most oft-quoted x-files line. but that's also because it's the first episode i watched with my wife.

One of the best Entertainment purchases I ever made. Sold all my DVD sets on ebay, and made more than the cost that this was selling for at the time., and bought it.

Hopefully more than six episodes. It was too short. And hopefully the mythology episodes are better. They were a mess last season.

Well when you cram 3-4 hrs worth of exposition into two 45 minute episodes that kinda happens.

I love the show so much they shouldn't even mess with mythology anymore, just stick to one offs and Monster of the Week stories. They'd knock a grand slam every week doing that. Every non mythology based episode was great in the mini series minus Babylon but it ties with mythology so I don't count it.

I can't say a single bad thing about the standalone eps. I thought they were great and some outright hysterical. But yeah, maybe they did rush the mythology stuff. That's on them for only devoting two episodes to it though.

The next episode should be written by the fans and be called Our Struggle.
