I just got turned on to this band (2:54), via The XX. I love the sound and wish I could purchase the Scarlet ep in the States. Currently, it's only available via vinyl, uk itunes and uk amazon.

Man I hate that, I really like the music but find the vocals so loud and mediocre it detracts to much from it to be listenable IMO.

Am I detecting a Cocteau Twins vibe? Not bad.

so a clue into my ridiculously biased thought process: i don't care much for the xx. i am picky with new bands. i was going to skip this on those two facts alone until aggroculture here said there was a cocteau twins vibe happening, which always piques my interest. i click, i listen, i enjoy.

nice and moody and dark and emotional. nothing tremendously new on the table here, but my kind of vibe for sure.

Yeah, loving this. Found the EP on iTunes (AU) for $3.99. I'd pay that much for "Scarlet" alone. Definitely a band to watch.

as expected- a powerhouse live. strangely enough, both sisters were shy and reserved both chatting on stage and afterwards. but they were just as stellar as i expected.

Wow, that's pretty much the stuff I'm always looking out for when I'm through with my Curve collection. Or at least somewhat. Thanks for the heads up!

@frankieteardrop: Fuck, I'm going to NYC next week. Would have been a thrill to see them live. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Off to iTunes...

I'm glad some of you enjoyed this new band. I just got back from their San Francisco Show; it was a wonderful performance. In addition, the opening act (Stripmall Architecture) blew me away, as well! By the way, according to a 2:54 e-mail newsletter, their album is due out May 28th. Here are the details:
    Debut Album
We're thrilled to officially announce the arrival of our debut album on May 28th this year. It will be released through Fiction, and in the US via our freshly unveiled new US label, Fat Possum.

You can pre-order signed copies of the album in the UK here.

Most of my anticipated releases for '12 are from established acts, so it's nice to have something from a promising newcomer to look forward to. "Scarlet" is probably the best new track I've heard this year so far.

This album is fantastic. Reminds me of The xx mashed up with Warpaint. Really really good stuff.

I get all wistful when I see those 2 bands in the same sentence - Warpaint opening up for The xx in 2010 was one of my favorite shows of the past few years. The combination of the 2 isn't such a far-off comparison for 2:54 either, which is a very good thing.

I was introduced to 2:54 via Wild Beasts, who did a great remix of "You're Early." I can't wait to hear the full album in its entirety. I have to see one of their upcoming NYC shows.

Funnily enough it doesn't officially release here until 15th June. Screw waiting that long!

After downloading and listening to the whole thing, I really dug it. Then I found out they actually are going to be playing here...on the same night as my stag. FML.

Anyone else make it to one of their North American dates? I saw them this past Monday in NYC and had an amazing night. One of the highlights being I got my poster signed by everyone in the band! (...and some free merch.) I only wish they played "Revolving." They're a really nice bunch, though, and the album is awesome. Looking forward to playing the vinyl.
