Oh my god. New Hammock album "Everything and Nothing" out April 1st!

They've got a bit too...wander-y on their last few albums, but these songs are very succinct and old school Hammock. Fuck yes.

Hammock- Everything and Nothing. I think this is their best album since Departure Songs. Probably not as good as Departure, but its still a good Hammock album- soothing, pretty, and basically the soundtrack to a nice day out with your girl. Good mix of instrumentals and vocal tracks. I do kind of wish they'd do an album of all vocal tracks, since those are my favorite Hammock songs, like this gem:

Well I missed the Chorus box which was limited, sadly; but I saw them live a few weeks ago, which was ace, and the EP is great!

There is this band from Tyler, Texas called Eisley (originally Mos Eisley till George Lucas made them change it, such a dick move,) but anyway, they made SUCH gorgeous music. It was like these siblings and their cousin and their next door neighbor. They made a big impact on the dallas music scene there for awhile and were one of those bands who were always GONNA be the next big thing but it never quite happened.

They made some sweet, sweet sounds that fit into the "dream pop" category but i don't know if they ever got much fame outside of the dallas area. I highly recommend their early stuff (i didn't keep up so i don't know about the later, but their first singles and debut album Room Noises are sweet ear candy for your ear holes. They made the kind of music that only precocious kids can make, who are related.
Rumor has it that their parents were very strict and wouldn't let them do much, but playing music was highly encouraged.

    Check it out:

I've heard of Eisley. Underrated band. I don't know why they never got big as they got some good pop songs. They're way better than fucking HAIM.

My favorite current "trend" is the resurgence towards being amped about shoegaze aesthetics in general.

This is the best tasteful rock-related tone in a mainstream sense since Siamese Dream went platinum, and it is a mainstream gesture towards appreciating careful and calculated production, which is probably something NIN fans appreciate.

Loving the wealth of post-hardcore / "pop-punk/emo" bands that are utilizing these dreamier sounds. Feels like finally the rash of commercial 2000s pop punk is dying out & a lot of young bands are channeling more of the 80s-90s underground.

Turnover is a good example, here's their new single

    Other examples:
Nothing - Guilty of Everything + Tired of Tomorrow
    Title Fight - Hyperview
    Touche Amoure - Stage Four

"rash" is a good word. Blink-182 made my ears itchy.

Hyperview is great. I missed it when it was released but recently gave it a spin and really dug the sound.

I'd add Charmer by Tigers Jaw to the list. I'm not as into their latest album, but it could also fit.

I love that Tigers Jaw references Twin Peaks so heavily. Two Worlds is my favorite LP of theirs but Charmer is real mature for a band of their stature. Idk if I'd associate them with shoegaze but I do love their work.

As glorious as a new MBV record would no doubt be, I won't believe it actually exists until I have it in my hands, locked in a room with curtains drawn. This dude has "said" so many things regarding MBV over the years, only for nothing to materialize. He's been allegedly working on the Loveless / IA vinyl reissues for what feels like a decade now. How much attention to detail could two albums and 80 minutes of music possibly warrant?

So yea, a new MBV album + vinyl reissues would be terrific. But I'm not holding my breath for either anytime soon..

I feel the same way, but i'm blindly hopeful at the same time. I love Shield's work, he is a fucking genius. Of course I wish MBV were more prolific, but at least this gives me hope.

Been listening to Death of Lovers a lot lately (members of Nothing...think Nothing meets The Cure)...so good to hear their EP "The Acrobat" is finally dropping next month. Extra bonus is a mention in this article that they've already begun work on the next Nothing album which should be dropping in 2018!
