Not sure if it's related whatsoever, but AP is reporting that Megaupload.com has been shut down and 'workers indicted'. Page isn't loading for me at all...

I've read around that SOPA/PIPA could threaten sites like Youtube and Facebook...

WHAT are they THINKING?! "let's shut down megaupload, youtube and facebook and see what happens!"

I know it isn't exactly how it goes and I don't know the whole picture and what it all implies, but I feel like this is getting big and frightening...

in brief, is it a plan to divide internet into "the good" and "the bad" so every site would need some sort of approval by some institution?

woot (for now) what a tool.

"Hi I'm Lamar Smith, I'm going to try and push a law through which involves massive regulations and political oversight involving online file sharing, file transfer and unregulated use of copyright content, but first I'm going to use some poor artists work on my own personal campaign website and not credit the guy. I'm an Asshole andd THAT's how I roll!!!"

ACTA was signed back in October. Funny how it didn't get much attention until now.

Just cringed while reading this US special report on how the world is doing with regards to protecting US copyrights, this is so patronising and I'm a bit peeved that the UK isn't in there because we're such a bunch of arse kissers to the US

This reads like 'hey poor countries, stop spending money on health and agriculture, you should spend more money on protecting Hollywood.' bloody cheek

    ^^^

i think that would be the 'interested stakeholders' that the report acknowledges, but they don't list them out!
