Perhaps he got 2Many DJs to support as a sort of PR stunt. To show the world he is not such a total moron.

That comment from Coachella is the most regressive, conservative thing i have heard anyone in music (other than Ted Nugent) say for such a long time.
im so glad electronic music is dominating everything at the moment.

I think people are just reading WAY to much into that statement.

It was good!. The second stage, glitter balls and lighting really made the
massive and slightly souless Earls Court exhibition centre feel and bit more intimate. Loved the
set and the dancers for We Exist and It's Never Over. I enjoyed hearing 2manyDjs
as well, bit sad they could not have done longer set bit at the end. Lorde was good as well. Bit surprised that most people did not wear fancy dress, most wore formal or normal clothes. And how cute is Regine!! She was so smiley!

This is by far the best single out so far: Creature Comfort

Turning into one of my favorites all time from them.

The Everything Now Corp. Version is kinda interesting too:

    It leaked.

It's pretty good. I think it might be a grower. Sounds are all over the map on it, but in a good way? There are a few tracks that kind of made me raise my eyebrows though. I feel like some of the more casual fans might not be into the album, too.

I don't think I could name a single one of their songs. But it's worth noting that the dress code was not their idea.

We pushed them pretty hard at a place I worked in 2008-2009. Not a fan.

Haven't been able to listen to the track yet. I'm extremely excited to hear it, especially knowing the new album was produced by Nigel Godrich.

Gotta say though, after 5 years (and even longer if EN wasn't your cup of tea), only having 7 songs stretched across a 40 minute (unnecessarily presented as) double album is a bit disappointing. They really couldn't come up with any more better material together after that time? Hopefully the album is phenomenal as fuck and makes me look like an idiot for saying that though.

Wow yeah finally got to listen to it and it's great. Giving off Suburb vibes. Extremely excited that Nigel Godrich produced this, and that it has that feeling to the sound. C'mon lets get an Arcade Fire/The Smile tour going.

I really love this song(s). Arcade Fire always just nail the emotional swells, and it’s very heartfelt and meaningful to me right now. Also listen in good quality, it’s richer than you think. The YouTube video didn’t sound great but Spotify did.

The double album thing was a bit concerning until I read that article. I was hoping it wouldn't be like Reflektor. I enjoyed that album, but it didn't need to be a double album. Everything Now was decent, but the whole "CONSUMERISM BAD!" concept felt pretty stale by that point. I'm going to hold off on listening to any tracks until the album is released so I can enjoy it in full.

New album is out there. I think its their shortest album to date? But it doesn't really feel like it. Most of the songs are so sprawled out and have so many different movements in them that it feels like the albums longer than it is. On first listen it's really good, though. Fans of Funeral will latch on to this one more than any other release, I would imagine.

Just finished listening to it. First half of the album was such a depressing slog that I almost gave up on it, but I held on due to the whole double album idea. Second half was definitely better, but there's no real cohesion between the tracks in my opinion. The tracks aren't bad, but it comes across like a collection of singles rather than a solid piece. I get what they were doing in terms of the album being about pessimism versus optimism, but front-loading the album with a suite of maudlin tracks was a big mistake. What I liked about previous albums (and about a lot of albums in general) is the contrast between the high energy tracks and the more somber tracks, and how they were weaved together. If they had done that with this album, I think it might have worked for me. As it stands, it's probably my least favorite album of theirs.

Yeah, I need to give it another spin ... but I was shocked at how the only song that stood out to me was the initial single. Truthfully, it feels like a little bit of Everything Now without any bite to it ... like that era of the band but on more of a come down.

Definitely my least favorite so far, but maybe additional listens will reward me.

I think that's what they were going for though. Apparently all the songs are stitched together from various odds and ends demos from their whole career. Like one of the chapters in End of Empire was written for funeral and never used. And I think another song is from the Reflektor era. They put all of this together during the Pandemic, and recorded at the end of 2020 so I mean of course the album isn't going to be super cohesive because everyone was stretched out in various parts of the world while Win and Regine wrote and put it all together.

Well, that explains the half-baked feel of the album then. Maybe they should have just released them as singles instead of as an album. Sometimes demo stuff is best left in the archives.

“The Lightning I, II” had me very hyped for the return of their original sound. A little disappointed on the first listen through, but it’s growing on me. They seem to be drawing from all of their previous directions. Was pleasantly surprised by Peter Gabriel’s guest spot. Lyrics are hit & miss but all in all, this is the first Arcade Fire record that has really piqued my interest since Neon Bible.
