I caught the ending of Reflektor on Alt Nation the other day, so couldn't really make a clear decision on what I thought. The music video for it (as well as the song) is interesting...I didn't get bored at all even though it's an atypical longer length song.

The new album should be great.

I didn't like it the first few times I heard it. But then I listened to it through reasonable speakers and really enjoyed it. Turns out shitty computer speakers aren't the way you should hear something for the first time... who knew lol

Amazon has two different CDs for preorder. Anyone know the difference? (Besides price, and one might have censored artwork).

Never been a huge fan of AF or LCD SS but the combo of the two works for me!

What's the deal with "the reflektors"? Is it just a promotional gag name or what? I'm hoping it's not the name of a fake, big-headed band people are paying to see mime new AF songs or something.

It's just a tongue in cheek promotional gag.

This album sounds like Arcade Fire having the most fun they've ever had making a record. Haven't had time today to sit down and listen from start to finish, though. Looking forward to doing that tomorrow. I've a strong feeling that this is going to be the AOTY this year.

Initial listen...it was okay. It didn't seem all that memorable to me, though I've always felt that way about Arcade Fire. Every album has one or two songs I really love and then a bunch that range from just okay to good. I don't find any of it bad, but just...bland...I guess. Could be a grower though.

First impression: I enjoyed it. Definitely slower than the other albums, but I'm perfectly okay with that. However, I DID feel like a few songs could have been trimmed down. The last track definitely didn't need to be over ten minutes long. I'm also glad the reversed track isn't part of the actual album. Talk about a waste of time.

Overall, it's a good listen. Probably my least favorite album of theirs, but that could change.

Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeee......having a hard time with it, gotta give it a few listens. It's like, on one hand, they went in with James Murphy and recorded an album of really cool shit, musically. There's tons of tasty grooves and synth lines all over the place. On the other hand, to me not one of the songs have that awesome life-affirming vibe that their past records did. And the songs do meander off quite a bit. On the first listen, I thought every song could have benefitted from some serious editing. But I'll give it a few more spins before having a definitive opinion.

Ah, the polarisation is strong amongst the AF fan community. I read a lot of some songs that might have benefited if they were cut a little. I for one don't get that because it never gets dull for me. Heck, some of them are over too soon. Although this album of theirs seems harder to digest to me then previous ones. Having listened to it a few times it's definitely slowly growing stronger on me. But I don't feel like I get it quite yet. But man there's some great tasty stuff going on. Spinning it again tomorrow!

After my first listen I'm really digging this album. So far, We Exist and Here Comes The Nighttime are my favorites. Finally got the meaning of artwork/title, too.

The first half took a couple of listens to get into it. The second was immediate excellence, the last 4 tracks is pure bliss.

The songs I'm still not entirely keen on is Flashbulb Eyes and You Already Know.

The Reflektor album is really great. There's one song that I keep listening to over and over again: Porno. The line about "little boys and their porno"... sending a message about the difference between men and men that know what real love is... the music and vocals are amazing. Another excellent 2013 rock album, to be put next to ...Like Clockwork

Only weak spots in my opinion are You Already Know and Here Comes the Night Time II, but they're not so bad that I feel the urge to skip them. Cool to see mostly positive reviews. Reflektor is now my second favorite AF album after Funeral. Here Comes the Night Time being one of the best songs in their entire discography. Epic stuff and perfect for the winter months ahead!

Yeah. It's definitely all very pleasant. It's growing on me some, but I'm still waiting to totally fall in love with any of it.

Not bad, but I really hope it's a grower in a big way.

This album makes me feel like a crazy person, because my moment-to-moment reactions to what I'm hearing veer back and forth to such extreme degrees.

Like, one second I'll be thinking "wow, this is fucking great" when they're playing that awesome bass riff on "It's Never Over," but then a few seconds later the group yells out "Hey!! Orpheus!!" and I start wincing because I feel like I'm watching some campy high school play. And then maybe later on it'll be back to an awesome part and I'll be enjoying it...when all of a sudden Win starts yelling out a bunch of ridiculous lyrics, something about how the whole world doesn't understand "us" because we're so different and unique, and once again I'm cringing.

And this whiplash experience just goes on and on like that for the whole album. It's a crazy experience. I'm already kind of bipolar/manic depressive, so I think I should probably stay away from this album, purely for health reasons!

Begining to think I'll have forgotten this thing by the end of the week.

    Hope I'm wrong.
