I kind of knew this was coming since they started the whole "you can win anyone's voice" a few months ago but it still hurts.

I was *literally* just thinking about that as I listened to the last episode the other day. I started with "I wonder why they stopped offering his voice as the prize" and then, sadly, my mind did drift to "I hope he's just enjoying a relaxing retirement". But then I started thinking about how little effort it takes to record a greeting, and my mind went down a darker path. Sad to see that theory confirmed. With all due respect to Bill Kurtis, there was just something special about WWDTM when Carl was the host.

Carl's final show can still be heard here. I think I may give it a listen tonight.

There is no cure for congestive heart failure, they just make you really miserable trying to keep you alive; there is more peace in passing than the suffering in trying to stay alive. Godspeed, she was a really tough lady. The photo of her holding a baby with HIV in the late-80s was groundbreaking. RIP, Mrs. Bush. https://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/e...will-endure-us

    Carl Kasell, wow. Wow.

Well I WOULD just say that I didn't know what sort of ailment she had, but that's not the whole truth.

My point still stands. If they told me I could stay alive and be really miserable or have a peaceful, dignified death, I'm pretty sure i if would go for the misery

Sad that he died so young. I know that he was struggling with health issues the last few years.

Re: Avicii, it sounds like he might have just drank himself to death. The health issues he was having were chronic pancreatitis and having organs removed due to trouble associated with it. One of my dear friends just died this way at like 34.

RIP. I saw them open for Flaming Lips once. Pretty good band. Tragic.

i don't know why his death has gotten under my skin like this. i'd never heard his music until now. his tweets are so haunting and still there. so weird. someone so talented, so admired, so successful, and really fucking attractive ... the demons still won. it's too much.

mental illness needs to be put out there with cancer. it can't be a silent killer anymore. this is madness.

I listened to their second album (“The Midnight Organ Fight”) on repeat for many months; saw them live at Lollapalooza in 2010; Scott was a truly gifted songwriter, this is truly a loss.

I absolutely loved the Superman movies as a kid. Sorry to hear this. And she was, by far, the best Lois Lane.

One of my childhood heroes, Dwight Clark, died today from ALS. I got a chance to meet him and he was very kind to me. I appreciate the memories. RIP.
