CNN, MSNBC, Fox, they don't own "journalism" in title nor in content.

Journalism isn't not-for-profit; many print media sources in this country have bitten the dust; you're either profitable or you're dead. Unless you're PBS. Little corporate, big corporate = all for-profit, all must be concerned about ad revenue to pay the bills. The Chicago Tribune has been sold several times, and the Chicago Sun-Times? http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/sun...nts-to-buy-it/

It's all going to shake out, until our "news" is coming from only a handful of sources, and digital-only (except for local TV news and the usual mass media TV. Plus blogs and online-only independent news sources.)

I was involved in a group project in college where we spent several weeks analyzing the news and published data related to Iraq. The only data we determined to be reliable was from Al Jazeera, followed by the BBC. It was concluded that the reliability of the data was significantly affected by the interest of advertisers.

That being said, the Press still deserves Freedom and should not be criticized by the President.

Edit: p.s. - my boss's wife writes for WaPo, the Chicago Tribune, the NY Times and HuffPo as an independent contributing writer. Also, one of my degrees is in Communication. I'm not making this shit up to hurt your feelings.

I'm watching extensive personal info about every CNN employee get compiled. It includes the info about everyone in their family. Spouses, children, parents, etc. It's dangerous. These are employees who aren't in the spotlight and just want to work a job and go home.

There are groups who usually do not play nice who are all inline with their extreme desire for animalistic retribution against CNN. It's a time when so many in the public are filled with anger and ready to unleash it on an enemy, and an enemy has finally come forward.
No, my perspective is influenced by what I see happening around me all the time; flitting from crisis to crisis, each time forgetting the last crisis. I'm talking average media consumer and voter, here; not the "passionate" Pizzagate conspiracy fans.

I'm not disagreeing that Trump's minions are dangerous. But, so are some of the people who hate him and Republicans (the baseball practice shooting comes to mind). People need to calm the fuck down. It would also help if we didn't have a moron in the White House stirring up shit all the time.

I do think that CNN's chest-beating on nearly every major news show about the wrestling meme just made things way worse, though; they made themselves more vulnerable by highlighting that they hated it. It's like Trump with the tiny hands; once we found out he hates people thinking he has tiny hands, boom, nobody's gonna let up on it.

Right now, I'm fascinated by this crazy damned concept of the WH obtaining all voting records and transferring them via a totally unsecured network for storage on a WH computer. Wtf. I mean, really, wtf.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...9fe_story.html

In its letters to state officials, the commission invited them to submit state data by email, or by an Army-operated file exchange website, with an invalid security certification system, neither of which appear secured.
Meanwhile, the list of states that are refusing to comply is really interesting:

@allegro it annoys me that Trump assumes any voter fraud is against him. Given what we know of election interference it would strike me the fraud may go the other way, if there is even any at all. What a waste of money and time that investigation is

It's been very interesting to see how different outlets (and people) have covered this.

Some sites (I don't remember which) have listed it as "40 states refuse to comply with voter information request"
Pence, meanwhile, tweets something to the effect of "Fake news. Real fact: 36 states have so far agreed to share information."

Technically, they're both right - they're just both using oversimplified summaries that twist it to look the way they want it to. The vast majority of states are refusing to fully comply with the request. Most of them, though, are sending only information that is already publicly available to literally anyone who wants it, and withholding some things that the WH requested. So yes, more states than not are sending SOME information that was requested. But more states than not have also stated that they're not sharing private information that was requested - including many states that voted him in.

I'm sure there's backstory here and that this photo isn't what it seems on the surface. But I love it anyway.

I'd like to know what the difference is between "will not release any personal data as requested" and "refuses to comply."

Can't twitter ban Trump from tweeting and call it an act of patriotic duty?

A 21min segment to hype up her inability to find a real story and poor tech literacy. Holy shit people. Who watches this??? Alex Jones has some competition now.
To be fair, she explained how the "document" submitted to her show was a fake, was just a copy of the another Intercept doc, showed viewers the evidence of the "crease" and yellow dots matching. I rarely watch her show anymore but I watched that one last week; it took her FOREVER to explain something that should have taken 5 minutes. She should have admitted that her staff did not do its due diligence, that the document was already public record; instead, she touts it as evidence of a conspiracy. Yeah right, eye roll. By the time she was done, it seemed more murky than before (and I was so bored, I was literally falling asleep). She's starting to approach Nancy Grace levels.

This, from the guy who was just quoted as saying that he thinks the AHCA is better than the ACA and hopes it passes.

There is no single ACHA; the Senate version was amended ... AGAIN ... by that Evil Ted Cruz.

And, of course, The Dumpster hasn't even READ either plan. During his campaign, The Dumpster promised all kinds of ideas for HC ... then backed away and let others draft it without his input, later.

Nobody is saying that Graham or McCain are Democrats, but I sure love it when they give Trump shit.

I watched Cruz this morning defending his plan, saying that young healthy people shouldn't pay for sick people.

EXCEPT THAT IS HOW INSURANCE WORKS.

My homeowners insurance goes up due to hurricane claims, and we don't have hurricanes in the Midwest.

Younger people ALREADY pay less for health insurance than a 60-yr-old, just like teens pay MORE for car insurance.

Cruz KNOWS THIS; he's not stupid; he's Evil.

And NONE of these plans, including the ACA, do anything about the cost of HEALTH CARE; they only deal with the cost of HEALTH INSURANCE.

    Gahhhhh I hate politicians.

Well, it is the single stupidest idea I've ever heard out of the mouth of a president. Even a waffling moronic fuck like Graham can see that.

I'm still dumbstruck by it... and here I was, thinking there was nothing that could shock me about this POTUS at this point...

Never sure whether the people at Fox are literally just stupid enough to not work this out, or malicious enough to just make shit up and present falsities to their viewers (and, of course, the president).

By drumming up a shoddy scandal story he pulled from Fox and Friends about the Comey memo supposedly containing classified information. Sadly, it's working if you believe in trending topics on social media.

Comey CLEARLY ADDRESSED (and cleared up) the matter of "confidentiality" and "top secret" during his sworn statement before the Senate committee. This is old news, being rehashed and spiced up with a conspiracy theory.

You want even MORE crazy shit? See all the "SHADOW GOVERNMENT OMG ARREST HIM AND FILE CHARGES" shit spreading around regarding Obama's recent visit to South Korea.

    Meanwhile, this is really good.
