I kinda wish they had still done the end loop for "The Background World." Not the whole 7.5 minutes, of course. But draw it out a little bit, similar to what they did with "Black Noise."

That's awesome that this was the live debut for "The Background World." Makes the show all the more special for me.
That setlist is out of this world. Best set of the tour yet. They just keep getting better and better. Glad to see an actual encore played and of course the biggest surprise of the night, The background world! As I was reading the setlist at setlist.fm, I saw that as I was scrolling and I thought it was a troll... my heart skipped a beat when I saw it printed. That is epic.
This is why I love this band. Every now and then he will throw out a surprise like this. I hope he keeps The Background world in the setlist for Aftershock. This totally breathes new life into the show now. I'm super pumped for going to Aftershock now in a few weeks! I can't wait! And TDTWWA in the encore is amazing as well.
I'm going to refrain from listening to the above video(s) of the background world live for now, want to be surprised and hear a live version for myself in person.
Sometimes as the tour goes on and the shows become static I lose interest a bit, but my excitement has come back again tenfold!
Hope Aftershock gets an exclusive t-shirt as well!
Can we all just agree that Atticus being in the band is so effing rad! That guy kicks so much ass and has been TR's right hand man for so long. It's about time that dude is on stage!!!!!
It makes sense that he's an official member now since he's been in the writing process for years, but I just want Trent to officially confirm Robin as a member because he's very much apart of NIN for me. I've said it before in the past and I'll say it again, anytime I hear guitar in a NIN song I imagine Robin playing it and not Trent or whoever recorded the parts.
While I 100% agree, I don't think Robin is a part of the actual songwriting or recording process, which is the big part of what makes AR part of NIN.
Robin is for sure a staple of the live band. And I am SO GLAD Trent said this is THE LIVE BAND until they get sick of working with him.
But yeah, Robin to me is as much a part of NIN as Atticus, and I also go straight to seeing/thinking about him playing guitar parts (or the backing vocals with his "gremlin voice" as we so lovingly call it).
These EP's and video's from the show's have me super excited for a UK show or 2 (my last show was 2014 at the Scala, i did have tickets for the shows at the O2 but didn't end up going thanks to anxiety and a really bad spell with my depression at the time. Hopefully i'll be better placed mentally for any new shows!)

Also, check the reddit link above, huge thread with whatever you need to satisfy your urge.
Uh you know this is the festivals 3rd year, right? It wasnt some randomly made up thing.
Thom Yorke and Trent Reznor at the same fest is too good to believe

THE JESUS LIZARD!?!? WHAAAaaaaAAAaaaaaTTT????
I'm all about that En Vogue action.
Well, I think this explains why there wasn't a proper tour shirt now. There were all these hidden/secret dates that would have been spoiled if there was a proper shirt with dates on it released at the start of the tour. Still a little sad there isn't a tour shirt, but it makes sense as to why there wasn't since so many of these shows were unannounced.
Yaaaaaaaas. My body is ready.
Wow, what a lineup. Anyone here been to this one before? Any idea when they release the day lineups?

Is that day for night festival an indoor event? Seems odd to have an outdoor event in December... Or even a festival at all in December. Is festival season slowly extending throughout the whole year now? lol. Just keeps going later and later every year.
Oh look, its real.

This is amazing. Gary Numan in NOLA and then NIN in Houston? Yes! What's a few more hours of driving!
Day for Night is easily one of the best fests in the country. It's half art installation in an abandoned brutalist post office and half music, indoor and outdoor, in Downtown Houston. The location in downtown means there is a ton of nightlife and places to stay, but overall, it's just the most unique fest out there.
Aphex Twin headlined last year.
There is a ton of petty crime at it though since most of it takes place indoors in an abandoned building in downtown, so, FYI. I can't wait.
Can someone here explain to me the "Light" concept of Day For Night? I'm a big fan of expensive visual setups that feature pretty lights exploding in your face, a la NIN 2008, NIN 2013, Roger Waters, Muse, Tool, Amon Tobin. Trying to evaluate if it's worth making the trek from CA....
