Guys, not to be a dick, but converting FLAC files, compatibility of said files with your device of choice and how to transfer them there are answers that you can easily find around. This forum is far from being the best place for troubleshooting .

I can't wait to (hopefully) be able to hear live versions of these types of songs, could be something really impressive....

I haven't shuddered and shook while listening to music like that in a long time. NIN has certainly given me the chills and made me want to groove but it's been a decade or so since it's made me feel like that and since Trent and Atticus are revisiting The Fragile lately, it only makes sense. But I can definitely see that Trent's grown as well. This is far more aggressive and on the nose than he's been in a while and still, just as mysterious because I honestly have no idea just what this is about. Yet. It's going to be fun to pick apart, and I can only wait to see what comes after.

I know some people said it was just a stopgap so that Trent could say "Hey, I did what I said I would," after getting swamped by work, but be that true or not, I can't say that I or (from the responses) anyone here is disappointed.

It does leave you itching though. I can't wait to see what the future holds!

I agree with some others that this fits better as an EP that it does a full length, which is perfect really.

There's a lot here to listen to, lots of subtle amongst the easy to spot, it's awesome. I really like this turn...

He really does know how to keep us all in suspense, and the surprises, it may takes many years at times between everything, but what we get as fans is... the best.

Here are the lyrics as sung. I had to make some formatting choices, like how to represent the overlapping verses in the left and right channels on "Dear World,".

    BRANCHES/BONES
Still can make out pieces with the opening sewed shut
Yeah, parts of me are slowing down and time is speeding up
    Spiders crawling everywhere, infected Japanese
You can tell all your friends you're just a tourist
But you can't understand what they've planned until you try to leave

Feels like I've been here before
    Yeah, I don't know anymore
    And I don't care anyway
Feels like I've been here before

Cold and black and infinite with nothing left to lose
If you try to keep the flies away, the makeup hides the bruise
Her branches are the bones that break, become a perfect line
And no, he won't be just a man who's Sometimes
He won't be just a man who's Sometimes

Feels like I've been here before
    Yeah, I don't know anymore
    And I don't care anyway
    I think I recognize

Yes, I have been here before
    Yeah, I don't care anymore
    Don't give a fuck anymore
    Yeah, I don't care

    DEAR WORLD,
Yes, everyone seems to be asleep

Hey look, you didn't even notice
    You couldn't even tell
    Just when it started happening
    Maybe just as well
After all, everything is getting unfamiliar now
    Trajectory in decline
    And we become obsolete
    A frame at a time

    I'm locked inside here
    I have to stay
    With people who aren't here
    All the way
    Pictures and faces
    On display
    Of people who aren't here
    All the way

    And you didn't even notice
    And you didn't even notice
    That you're missing

Dear world, I can hardly recognize you anymore
And yet I remain certain there is an answer in you
I feel like I have lived so long
Sometimes run out of things to try to do
    I can't concentrate
    What about…
I begin to go through another that we have been
    I have been entirely patient
    No, no, not this time

I am leaving because I can't recognize who I have been
    You go on spoiling
    It's happening
Without me you didn't even notice
Of course it's been happening all along
    Permanent intervals
    As you become obsolete
    Who are you?
    Oh, this place...
    I can't concentrate
    But I know I can't trust myself

    I'm locked inside here
    I have to stay
    With people who aren't here
    All the way
    Pictures and faces
    On display
    Of people who aren't here
    All the way

Yes, everyone seems to be asleep

    SHE'S GONE AWAY
You dig in places till your fingers bleed
Spread the infection where you spill your seed
I can't remember what she came here for
I can't remember much of anything anymore

    She's gone
    She's gone
    She's gone away

A little mouth opened up inside
Yeah, I was watching on the day she died
We keep licking while the skin turns black
Cut along the length, but you can't get the feeling back

    She's gone
    She's gone
    She's gone away

    Are you still here?

    THE IDEA OF YOU
    Maybe that was somebody else
    Maybe I was somebody else
I'm sorry, for what it's worth
    If that means anything anymore
I think there's something just wrong
    I have been wondering
    When, when did you know?
    You know, really know?
No, no, no, no, I don't think that's going to happen here
You missed all that on the way out
Remember, I don't wanna remember anymore
    Maybe I was somebody else
Just go back to the idea of me
Just go back to the idea of me
Just go back to the idea of me
    Just…

    Wait
    Wake
    Breathe
    Believe
    Hey, you tell yourself…

    None of this is happening

Oh and if I start to tell you anything, please don't pay attention
That's not really me in there
    I would never do that
Just go back to the idea of me
    Go back to that idea
Can you even hear me over here?
Everything absorbing, liquid twitching, forming something terrible
    The sores are gone
And you can hardly tell now but
That was someone else who isn't here anymore

    Wait
    Wake
    Breathe
    Believe
    Hey, you tell yourself…

    None of this is happening

    Wait
    Wake
    Breathe
    Believe
    Hey, you tell yourself…

    Hey
    Can you hear?
    It gets
    So lonely in here

    BURNING BRIGHT (FIELD ON FIRE)
    I'm going back
    Of course I am
As if I ever had a choice
Back to what I always knew I was
    On the inside
Back to what I really am
Look at this pathetic place I made
With little bits of sticks and hair
And anything I found along the way
    And tell yourself, you know?
You're not really what you know you are
    You know?
    Of course you do
I think I may have even listened to you
I think I may have even listened to you
At the height of my demise

    Breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe…
Break through the surface and breathe

    I am forgiven
    I am free
I am a field on fire

And oh my God, I have missed you
    It has been so long
And I am stronger than I have ever been in my decline
I am stronger than I have ever been in my decline
For now I know, now I know, now I know for certain
    Now I know for certain
    Oh, burn motherfucker
Carry the carcass and throw it on
Pull up a chair and watch
    The flies come roaring out
And will surround the entire world
And blacken out the sky and every last one of you
    Like a plague of locusts
    Like an exit
    Like an end
    Like an end
    Like an end
    Like the end

    Breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe…
Break through the surface and breathe

    I am forgiven
    I am free
I am a field on fire

I can't tell if I am dreaming anymore

WAV files don't support embedded artwork. You can associate artwork with them in iTunes, but they are simply stored in the iTunes database, not in the digital file itself, so if you copy the WAV to something else, like your iPhone, there is no artwork.

You need to transcode them to something like AIFF or ALAC.

Not currently. Currently the cheapest way to obtain it is to order the "Physical Component" product for $12, which comes with the digital download. Tomorrow, though, the EP will be available through all digital retailers, so you'll have your pick, like iTunes Store, Amazon MP3, Google Play, etc.

iOS doesn't support FLAC (natively). I think there are FLAC player apps, but haven't tried one. If you want to convert it to something natively supported by Apple, transcode it to ALAC.

Yeah, someone should have really told Trent that FLAC supports metadata tags.

This EP is awesome. Great surprise seeing it arrive in my inbox earlier than anticipated.

After watching the video, I can't help but think there's something more to it than just that static/distortion. Almost like if you threw on a pair of 3D glasses or looked at it some other way it'd tell a different story.

Okay, who said She's Gone is like The Fragile+With Teeth?!?! You lied to me!!!

It's like The Reptile (instrumental part) + No, You Don't (vocal part on the verses) + Corona Radiata (outro). Hello!!!

I watched it twice, it looks like sometimes there's a shape formed over-all, by the jumbled up images, I swear... I wonder what happens if you slow it down or speed it up, if you notice anything else? It could be fun, looking into that video

The Idea Of You - WOW. I read almost every comment but I did not see many people talk about the verses being from I Do Not Want This' style. Yeah, it's obvious, but still, how cool is that?! Anyway, that intro got me fucked up already, then the IDNWT part, then that fucking chorus with the trash drums, WHAT IS THIS I DONT KNOW BUT I LIKE IT HAHAHA.

Seriously, I haven't heard such a rock/metal music from NIN since Broken.

This is only half answering your question, but someone on a previous post said there's only audio clipping in "She's Gone Away" and it's pretty obviously intentional in that one. I think this EP was just mastered to be very loud. Just like Broken was back in '92.

May I ask where I could listen to the new EP? I'm going to read the thread now, but a link would be appreciated.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm starting to read the thread now and I'm not sure if this a leak or if it is officially out earlier than expected? Is it in spotify or can I buy it from nin.com and receive the download now?

    EDIT2: Nevermind, got it

These songs are so fucking good, and Trent seems so very pissed-off. Is he getting divorced or something? The lyrics point towards something not being right at all, and they seem more blunt than ever. Especially Burning Bright (Field on Fire), which is just beyond insane, musically as well as lyrically. So heavy.

Branches Bones is like some industrial post-punk metal. Does that genre makes sense? I don't know!! By the way, I can totally imagine a chick singing those lyrics, that tone up at the end of "beforeeeeeeeee AHHH" is so girly haha.

edit: he also sounds a bit like Bowie during the verses.

the lyrics to Burning Bright might be some of the most intense shit he has ever wrote

    Oh, burn motherfucker
Carry the carcass and throw it on
Pull up a chair and watch
    The flies come roaring out
And will surround the entire world
And blacken out the sky and every last one of you
    Like a plague of locusts
    Like an exit
    Like an end
    Like an end
    Like an end
    Like the end

that matches up to the hatred of stuff like Heresy, Reptile, Somewhat Damaged, The Wretched

I certainly hope not. I'd like to think he doesn't have to be going through great personal turmoil to unlock these sort of things. It would make me rather sad if that were the case. =/

Not that my mind hadn't gone there during "She's Gone Away".

Agree completely, and it is ultimately just speculation. He seems happy otherwise, which I really hope he is, but this is on a whole new level of darkness.

I concur. Also, musically "She's Gone Away" is like The Fragile ripping a hole in reality and crawling back out of the abyss. There's so many familiar motifs there but I can't QUITE put my finger on them. I'm going to have to start pouring over the catalog again... Hehe.

I listened through my iPhone headphones and liked everything up until The Idea Of You. Then the EP restarted and I couldn't hear any vocals on Branches/Bones. Turns out my headphone jack pulled out a bit halfway through and I was only listening to the last two tracks through one channel without vocals. Just relistened to them and they are indeed amazing shit!

What should we consider the official album art? This embedded Still-looking one?
