Slightly unrelated, but breaking news is that Disney and Rian Johnson have agreed to terms for him to helm a 'brand new Star Wars trilogy, presumably coming after 2020.'

    And there it is...

    BOOM.

Damn...and a new live-action series is officially coming as well!

That is Last Jedi's director correct? If so, Last Jedi must be something nuts for them to give him his own trilogy.

This is almost like waiting for The Force Awakens all over again having this kind of information announced and we still have 2 more movies in the CURRENT trilogy we've yet to see.

Interesting that they hired Johnson for this new trilogy, but had Abrams come back for IX after Trevorrow left. Why not have Johnson do it?

The only reason I’ll be watching The Last Jedi is because Johnson is the writer-director.

I'll venture a guess and say Johnson will be busy preparing the new trilogy.

Oh good call, I hadn't thought of that. I guess that means the actual decision to let Johnson helm the new series was probably actually done months ago...

I really wish they'd make a Star Wars nature documentary series. Basically I want it to be like the Planet Earth series, only set in the Star Wars universe. No huge stories or stupid adventures, none of that "epic" bullshit. Just long majestic shots of Endor set to beautiful ambient music. Extended narration from David Attenborough about the migration patterns of banthas. Maybe a few talking heads interspersed here and there, like an important research scientist from the University of Theed talking a bit about the ancient ecological history of Naboo.

I really, REALLY need this in my life, so if someone could please let Disney know, I'd appreciate it, thanks.

My only hopes for this movie are a good portion of Snoke and that Benicio del Toro has a proper and cool role in this. I could watch that guy in probably every movie and not get sick of it.

Loved Toro in License to Kill. A great Bond villain sidekick.

He was such an evil, psychotic bastard in this movie, it made his demise all the more satisfying.

    @1:55 that's one horrible death.

While of course you never expect otherwise from these events, my friend Anthony who does pre-vis on a number of larger movies was there, and he FB messaged me late last night as per my request...saying he thought it was fuckin' unbelievable. And he won't mince words or fanboy out...I can recall a few of these premiere events he's been at that had similar social media reactions, but he'd tell me '...it was ok.'

What was his opinion of Episode VII when it came out? Because I remember people telling me it was so good and they loved it so much they had actual tears at times. By the time I saw it my expectations of greatness were not met.

IIRC that was one of the ones he said was ok, lol. Not amazing, but good.

Just got mine for Sunday morning. I also can't fucking wait but I hope I don't get sick again like last year which forced me to see Rogue One a month after it came out. Fucking Carraba's. I'm never eating at that shithole ever again.

If their plan is to run Star Wars right into the ground, they're off to a good start, eh?
