    Silicon Valley

Anybody else watching this hilarious show by Mike Judge? It's on HBO and it's second season. Never fails to make me laugh.

Oh yeah. This show is great. Tons of great laughs AND gripping continuity. A rare combination. While everyone waited for Game of Thrones, I waited for this.

That dick joke at the end of the last season is perhaps, the greatest dick joke of all time.

Unfortunately, the actor portraying my favorite character died, and he hasnt continued into this season. That scen with the sesame seeds on the bruger king burgers was top notch, i loved watching him.

Hmm, Mike Judge... yes I remember, Beavis & Butthead! Count me interested.

Update: After a bit of research, I'll try "Halt and Catch Fire" first.

Yeah that was a real loss. As for the dick joke of which you speak, yes, that was amazing. The intricacies involved was fantastic!

Mike Judge also created another favorite movie of mine: Office Space. As for Halt and Catch Fire, definitely a great show. Silicon Valley is the comedic little brother to the drama of Halt and Catch Fire. I look forward to its second season, which begins is a few weeks.

So, yesterday I watched season one episode one of both series (Silicon Valley, Halt and Catch Fire), and you know what, I like them both. :-) It's early, but they look quite different though.

Unpleasant surprise in Silicon Valley S01E08 ending credits... the character I enjoyed the most, rewinding his performances, is gone forever. RIP Christopher Evan Welch. :-/ (2013 already, I had no idea)

Yeah, a huge loss, for sure. I dig how the show managed to pay homage to him while keeping the comedy intact.

I've been riding this shows dick since I saw THE dick joke posted on Reddit about a year ago. Season 2 has been awesome so far but the first couple episodes started way slower. TJ Miller and Thomas Middleditch and really pretty much everyone just kills it with every joke they serve up. The last few episodes have just been getting better and better, too. About to watch episode 6 right now

Last night's episode might have been the best episode of this season. However, I'll have to SWOT it to make sure.

    welp, that was the finale.
i am still enjoying this but it creeps me out most of this is barely an exaggeration of reality. On the surface, it seems like comedic hyperbole... but the exaggerations aren' that much

I like how well they get these stereotypes. Many of the things are details you wouldn't pick up unless you have been working in the industry for years.

    "Hold on, Oceans 11?"
    "It's a 2001 casino-heist film starring Julia Robets and 11 men"

Jared is fucking gold so far this season. Not to mention, "Hey, Dinesh! Nice chain..."

Jared getting in on the ribbing of Dinesh, and laughing at his own jokes was definitely a highlight this episode

I'm a little behind but I am two episodes into season 3 and it is awesome so far. I don't know how this show manages to get better and better every single season but it does. It's hilarious and tells a wonderful and compelling story, and managed to make me care very deeply about all the characters.

All the people who enjoy this show: do any of you NOT work in tech? It seems like the majority of the fans are the people who work in similar environments. It's just weird.

I don't work in tech and like the show. Last night's episode was one of the best in the series.

Nice. How do you guys view the show? Is it like Office space updated by 15 years for the tech industry? Is the scathing commentary about the culture something that stands out to you? Or is the tech industry just a setting for interesting personalities and stories, kind of like the show Scrubs?

It's funny, of course, but less of a comedy to me and more like satire of the tech world. I am learning while laughing. I wonder how accurate it is in portraying...well...Silicon Valley.

It's definitely accurate in a lot of the ways Office Space was accurate about corp culture. Everyone I know can point out at least one person who they've worked with that matches every character in the show. Many of us can identify with various times we basically lived in some of the scenes. It's disturbing.

There are so many little background details that hit really accurately too. Ex: One of the first episodes panned through the Huli snack area, filled with abundance and diversity, and over the top is one of those "morale posters" of the CEO hanging out with some 3rd world kids solving hunger or some shit. There is so much "we are changing the world" bullshit out here and so much of the irony is lost on those pushing the messaging. This series does an incredible job of pointing it out.

There is a LOT more material around here for them to work with. I keep wishing they would cover some of the recent SF area drama. Some of what the show covers is actually more tame than the reality too.
