I've just never been a fan of unnecessarily stylizing names/titles with special characters or other letters. From a design standpoint it may LOOK cool, admittedly, but it should never be in the actual name of your thing. I talk, but one of my favorite remix albums is Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D, so. *shrug* Oddly enough I've enjoyed a song by Alvvays I heard on the radio, but that's one more song than I've really been into from Chvrches, heh. Not my cup of tea. A little too far into "dream pop-y" territory for me.

Just make it easy for people to type and categorize. ^^' I just instinctively typed both of those as "chvurches" and "alvvways" mostly because of muscle memory from typing the actual words. I can even get wanting to make sure that when fans are looking for "Chvrches" they don't get a million search hits for "churches" or something, but that seems like it would be a lame reason for stylizing as such. Wait...

This spelling was chosen to differentiate themselves from actual churches in online search results.[15] There was no conscious decision to have a name with religious connotations; instead, the band members felt that the name gave "a strong vibe that could be interpreted in many different ways".[12] Mayberry also noted that the v is a subtle nod to band names from the influential witch house genre of music, including bands such as SALEM and Ritualz. "We did consider putting upside down crosses at either side of our name, but that would have dated us, I think" said Mayberry.[16]
It was just as tedious when Crosses (a project I was personally a BIG fan of) was being stylized as just three actual crosses. How the holy ass am I supposed to just type that on a normal keyboard or phone keypad? I'm going to retype it as 'Crosses' in my library so I can actually find it, and everyone is going to call it 'Crosses', So just...call it Crosses. It's okay. The people will be able to differentiate. OR, if that’s gonna be complicated, maybe pick something else. No one is making you stick to that name.

Dude, one of my all time favorite bands is called Broadcast. BROADCAST.
and they hit their commercial peak (which wasn't very high) in the early 2000's.

I don't think i was able to find anything about them online until years later.

I’m a big fan of Tool, so one can see how much that sucks for searching particularly for when it usually takes you to online shopping of ratchets and what not. Usually have to type in “tool band” to get anywhere.

Jesus. That’s awful. And I guess this was my bigger point before I trailed off on a tangent while I’m posting at work - I just wish bands wouldn’t name themselves something either needlessly complicated or just straight-up normal everyday words that make searching for them a nightmare.

The Witch was written as "The VVitch" on the posters because in Old English there was no "W" and words that needed one were actually spelled with two Vs, and the movie takes place during a time period where the W was only just being introduced.

dude you'd be all over broadcast, btw.
But yeah, when this band started, No one had any idea, I don't think, what the internet would become.

Not sure where to post this but...

    https://www.theguardian.com/music/20...e-fanbase-tour

This band called 'Threatin' had a UK tour...only nobody turned up to see them. After people started looking into them they've discovered they are signed to a label that doesn't exist, got headline slots at UK venues off of reviews that are fake and a tour in the US that never happened and convinced the venue they'd sold 100's of advanced tickets that never happened! It's a pretty crazy story that is still happening!

Really doesn't surprise me, I've seen a fair few fantasist bands fund pay to play tours - but this is next level

Also nice to see people from my old haunts in camden appearing in the news! They've aged better than me

Heard Kryptonite on a co-workers radio this afternoon at work. Just remembered how pathetically awful Three Doors Down are/were.

Now with the Trump Inauguration I will forever associate them to being the only band to perform for that.

Could there be any band as horrendous, derivative and uninspired as Imagine Dragons in a post 2010 music world?

Every goddamn song and single sounds the same with the repeated bland vocal delivery. The mix mash of influences and sounds is also poor. Every trendy piece of music in mainstream has found its way to their sound.

Seques me into my next hate mention in The Chainsmokers. Atrocious trash. Completely disposable, lowest common denominator music.

And I am not a mainstream music hater always but this current electronic/EDM/synthpop sound in all genres (pop, rock, rap) has gone on for TOO long at this point. It all melts together in uninspired and copy paste music.

No wonder people think Greta Van Fleet are awesome. Least they sound like yesteryear and its a small fresh breath of air until you realize they are riffing shit pioneered some 40 years ago and are just as awful for not being unique and trendsetting.

I declare Imagine Dragons the shittiest “popular” band ever. Holy shit, every song sounds like a fucking commercial for Gatorade or State Farm or Taco Bell. Gives me the runs without even deep thinking.

Fight me over it. (The Imagine Dragons, not the runs)

GVF are lame, but I can at least sit though one of their albums. The songs posted here are unlistenable. Even putting Ivan Drago in your video can't keep it from sucking.

we were discussing this in a different thread, but seriously, fuck this song. it played over and over and over the whole time my wife and i were in ikea a week and a half ago. can you imagine trying to have a nice day, or any kind of discussion, and this garbage keeps playing on repeat? i thought i was going to have a panic attack. i can understand why the military has used music as a weapon in the past.
