When I made that setlist, I was thinking about making a parallel to the Woodstock 1994 performance, but instead of listening songs from, Pretty Hate Machine, Broken and The Downward Spiral, I'd go with songs from The Fragile, And All That Could Have Been [Still] and With Teeth. If anything, it really was an imaginary Woodstock 2005.

Thanks to Not The Actual Events and Add Violence coming out, it'll be now easier to make Woodstock 1994 parallels of other releases. I'm sure it's because I've watched that performance so much, that I wanted to see if I could use it as some sort of setlist formula from other songs and album eras. And it was also just for kicks more than anything.

And that's always been the toughest part for me. Interestingly enough for me, the start and the ending are actually sometimes very easy. It's the middle of the setlist that's the hard part for me.

With the band playing 2-3 shows per venue for the upcoming tour, will the setlist be the same for both shows or will it be different? Plus will we finally see Happiness in Slavery played live again along with Sin, Down In It, We're in This Together, Starfuckers Inc?

Different setlists each night probably. Unlikely that We're in this Together or Happiness in Slavery.

is his logic bc they dont sound right live, or other reasons? we're in this together, fine...but broken is the album that got me into nin - having never seen happiness in slavery is a major letdown.

I say it's unlikely because it hasn't been played since they were touring for The Downward Spiral. I feel like if they were to bring it back, it would be a different version of it. A noisy electronic heavy version of it could possibly work.

    Can't I?

I love Terrible Lie but as a live staple it's minutes burned that I'd sooner see go elsewhere, and Now I'm Nothing for me has always had this kind of "welcome to the world NIN", almost retrospective feel to it as an opener that I think makes it more than capable of serving as an introduction to another track.

More than a particular "playlist" i would love to listen all the songs from the 3 EPs, played either in order or random in a whole concert (most fans would hate this, but i would love this so much...)

    If you can choose a

song never played by the band before
song that hasn't been played in a long time
    a Trent Reznor/Other projects
    a special song for you
a fan favorite song (not necessary a hit)

For this tour, what songs would you choose?

    I'd choose

    Leaving Hope
The day the whole world went away (Still Version)
    Mantra
In this Twilight with zero sum (outro)
AATCHB (This is similar to perfect drug most of the fans want to listen this beauty)

since i haven't heard "bad witch" yet i can't come up with a setlist. but I envy the fans in the U.S., because they possibly could enjoy something like my dream-setlist that I won't ever get to see in europe: to experience nin like kinda brandnew a bit.

75% not the actual events / add violence / bad witch (like nearly every single song)
20% "older" stuff, including "surprises" like "sunspots", "in two", "head down", "demon seed", "the four of us are dying", or whatever fits to the main content
only 5% (equals 1-2 songs) for the every-fuckin-show-essentials: "the hand that feeds" (deleted), "march of the pigs" (deleted), "closer" (deleted), "head like a hole" (maybe), "wish" (maybe), "hurt" (maybe, the problem with closing the show could be solved with "the great below". or "in this twilight", "beside you in time", "something i can never have" instead maybe? i'd prefer "the great below"). would be nice to have "the background world" as neverending last song too.

NOT to be included: "only" (far better on tape than live), "came back haunted" (a bit too boring i'm afraid), "satelite" (wtf), "less than" (boring), "survivalism" & some more of "year zero" (politically too-obvious-reznor is rubbish)

I'm hitting two of the three Vegas shows this week, and while I'll be happy with whatever we get, I'd love to check off some songs that I've personally never seen them play live:

    Ruiner
    We're in this Together
    Sunspots
The Four of Us are Dying
    Happiness in Slavery
    Leaving Hope
And All That Could Have Been
    Branches/Bones
    She's Gone Away
    Burning Bright
    Less Than
    Not Anymore
    This Isn't The Place
    The Background World
    The Perfect Drug
    And... anything from Bad Witch

So right now I just want the three new records played in order, followed by I Can't Give Everything Away, then an encore of Satellite and Everything.

For this upcoming tour, I want tons of new material. Obviously we haven't heard Bad Witch, yet, but at 30 mins, I'm guessing I want the whole thing. I could imagine the band playing it front to back to open the show, and then into something else... So, for my dream set for this tour involves some risk, and I like it that way:

    Set 1:

    Bad Witch

    Set 2:
    Less Than
    She's Gone Away
    The Idea of You
    This Isn't the Place
    The Way Out is Through
    Into the Void
    Piggy
    Branches/Bones
    Heresy
    Reptile
    Vessel
    Head Down
    The Line Begins to Blur
    Beside You In Time
    Right Where it Belongs

    ----

Another Version of the Truth, somehow segued into Lights in the Sky
    La Mer
    Various Methods
    The Big Come Down
    Burning Bright

    ---

    Terrible Lie
    Sin
    Head Like a Hole
    Background World

    I feel fucking greedy.
