oh fuck man, the man that gave us "last christmas" dying on that very date. what a sad ending... my mother is a huuuge fan so I kind of grew up with his music and bought her tickets for two shows. :/

Fuck you 2016. Fuck you to hell. My parents loved the guy. My dad thinks "Careless Whisper" is the greatest song ever. He was one of the last true superstars we ever had that could actually write, produce, and sing his own stuff.

Man nothing more to be said about all the loss in 2016. I enjoyed George Michael's solo work and have fond memories of various school dances, back in the day. RIP.

A friend of ours is 32 and he'd become a HUGE George Michael and Wham! fan, he reminded of songs we'd forgotten about and their brilliance (mostly via karaoke). Such a great voice. And a Greek God.

Damn, 2016 has been particularly brutal.

I really liked some of his 1990s music....he has a lot of problems recently....but he maintained his really great voice..

He was a major voice for LGBT rights in the UK too..
    RIP..

One of the things for me that validated his legendary status was a little moment in Bend It Like Beckham were Keira Knightley's mother is aghast about her daughter possibly being a lesbian and she is still horrified about what the British press did to George Michael as her husband replied, "Now look. George Michael is still a superstar and you still listen to Wham!" I've been listening to George Michael and Wham! since I was 3 years old. I love listening to his stuff and kinda wished I had a bum like his to put on some tight jeans and shake that bum to "Faith". We will miss you George.

This year can just go fuck right off. I am not the biggest fan of his, but he was in the background to my 80's childhood.

One More Try is a great fucking pop ballad, and if you disagree you can disagree later, and I say that having never put a dime in his pocket.

It's weird to say that it is as good as Prince at his best, but here we have them both dying in the same miserable window. Why this has been such a horrible year for legends on every musical level is surreal and bizarre at this point, but I'm feeling this strange feeling having always loathed "Last Christmas" as my very most hated Christmas song... and for some reason, that weird associated feeling of guilt at having vented that so many times without having a goddamn good thing to say about him as a musician even as an aside, makes me realize that I've been kind of an asshole, and yeah.... fuck this year. Let's all be some better and nicer people going ahead. Everyone is going to need that sort of thing right now, even if they don't know it yet.

I cannot wait for art to start fucking the world up so magnificently come January 1st. 2017: Let's make art dangerous again.

RIP Carrie Fisher...This fucking thread has gotten way too long; so much loss. An important piece of my childhood, gone. I appreciate what she brought to the screen and, for me, the Star Wars universe. I also loved her many interviews, in her later years. She really spoke her mind and was just a real character that I admired. Safe travels...

It's a shame that she is often SOLELY remembered as Princess Leia.

She was a REALLY GOOD author of SEVERAL books.

I *really* loved her in "When Harry Met Sally."

Now both Bruno Kirby and Carrie Fisher are gone. :-(

I highly recommend her book "Postcards from the Edge" which resulted in this movie:

I believe she was on tour promoting her current book.

It sucks so hard to see the people I grew up with and admired pass away.
Its even worse when it happens with such frequency.
This year can't get any worse.
I can't believe so much shit has happened in a such a short span of time.
    I will always cherish them.
I just want to say thank you to all these wonderful people and their art, that has enlightened and enriched our lives.
And thank you all here in ETS for helping us endure these losses together than alone.

this year has essentially gutted my childhood. what do you do when most of your heroes are taken in one go? Unreal.
