It is pretty fucked up. I mean, there's no excuse for what Dorner did but LAPD crossed a dangerous line. Is the police now the judge, the jury and the executioner? OK so Dorner is a cop killer. What about child rapist? Why shouldn't they be shot on sight?

It'll be interesting to see how the media handle this. Will they ask the hard questions so simply let that fade away.

I'm not even beginning to make this up. Some rich Australian asshole is singlehandedly funding a replica of the fucking TITANIC that will launch in 3 years and take the same route as the original. Offers to be a passenger on it have exceeded A MILLION DOLLARS.

    WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG.

As a life-long Titanic buff, I think this would be really cool. The new one will have enough lifeboats. This, and an Alaskan cruise, would be the only cruise I'd do, however, given the history of cruises lately.

Lol, I find this rather amusing. It's cool. But they guy doing it kind of comes of as a dick just for putting the idea in motion. Also, if it does sink, he better not survive, cause hes gonna look like an asshole. lol

Clive Palmer is an industrialist nut-case, from Queensland no less.

I'm sure he'd want all the ship-building crew to be paid period wages as well.

Sounds like an giant insurance scam in the making really.

A one room WV library has a $20k Cisco router. WV wasted $5mil on similar Cisco installs. Why? Government!
Also, this was all from the 2009 Obama Stimulus money. So, that's your money being wasted over in WV.

Our money is and always has been wasted all day every day.

Thank you. That ship was a marvel except for not enough lifeboats and a lazy captain; human errors. And today's cruise ships are more about climbing walls and ice skating shows; they're suburban malls on water. Reviving the Titanic is more about bringing back a certain style of travel (not Carnival poop and the Costa Concordia Chicken of the Sea).

nope, and I am proud of it! My current company doesn't even have a budget. I'm not really sure how it works but it does...

Well, there was also the aforementioned bulkheads that were said to be watertight, except when the water decided to say "Oh, we can just spill over the top? Solid!"

not true. go study more. there was a COMPARTMENT system, which of course didn't account for being sideswiped by an iceberg. the ship was a marvel for its time. and ships travel that route all the time since that time.

Anyway, I hardly think that a Titanic replica is going to insert a giant iceberg into its maiden voyage and then pretend that helicopters don't exist and deliberately recreate the shortage of lifeboats.

Interesting. I was a "disaster" buff in elementary and high school, and every book I read about the subject talked about water spilling from one compartment to another...

Because they creased and because of human error in shutting down all the compartments and because the ship kept moving after it hit the iceberg.

the compartments weren't water-tight but they certainly didn't sink the ship by themselves.

Two years ago, Lightoller’s granddaughter shared a secret that her grandfather had kept all his life: following the collision Ismay ordered the Captain not to stop the ship but to keep going “Slow Ahead.” In pushing her forward, Captain Smith allowed water to pour through the damaged hull at hundreds of tons a minute and to break into the watertight compartments one after another. Had the Titanic stood still, Lightoller believed, she would have assumed a stable position until she was rescued.

anyway, why would a replica identically replicate all events and flaws?

You guys are just Debbie Downers.
