It's gonna make money. Really, this movie all depends if you like what Zack Snyder does. I enjoyed man of steel and watchmen. But hated sucker punch.

I think the movie will be fine. But I'm just excited to see it because I'm a fan of comics, mostly DC. To compare them to marvel as competition is dumb, they see how much they are banking and Warner is just riding the gravy train. I really wish DC had its own studio like marvel though .

I'm of the belief that Zack makes movies as good as the screenplays handed to him -- he has a great visual flair and seems excellent and bringing the comicbook imagery to life (Watchmen, for all it's faults, gets the look and atmosphere spot-on), and the man can put a fight scene together as good as the best of them. But he seems hesitant to fuck around with a story or a screenplay, and when that screenplay is made with someone like David S. Goyer, it's going to have some garbage in it (see: Man of Steel). Since the people who worked on Argo got to take a pass at BvS and Affleck's deal was that he got to have input and see a full script before committing, and his new-found discretion with work, and that Goyer is finally out of the Warner Bros. team altogether for DC, I'm thinking there's no reason to expect BvS to have a terrible screenplay, even though I'm not expecting anything mind-blowing, either (and really, I don't think a single superhero movie has done anything mind-blowing, writing-wise, at damn near any point, and I don't expect them to).

I'm really happy that it's 2 hours and 30 minutes and not longer than that. I think anything that long is already edging on "please end already" territory, for the most part, especially when it's these big blockbuster movies, but considering how much is likely to happen in this, it likely needs some room to breathe. X-Men introduced all the mutants to audiences when no one who didn't read comics new a thing about them and it was a major success that helped usher in the wave of superhero movies in the early 2000's, without a single origin movie for any of the characters beforehand.

I think it's weird that people have become so used to the Marvel model of things that they're so hesitant around an ensemble. Hell, one of the things Watchmen did well was characterizing everyone, for the most part at least, and that didn't even get to rely on having sequels later down the line. Considering everyone complains nowadays at Marvel's origin movies and they've even gone out and said they're not doing any more, I'd figure a lot of people would be glad they're skipping most of them here with DC. I don't think anyone needs to know how Batman became Batman anymore. My biggest issue with MoS was that it was another Superman origin.

Suicide Squad looks like a lot of fun. I'm not the biggest fan of Leto's look, but to me that's a big thing with comics - artists do different takes on characters all the damn time, and from what we've seen, it seems to fit in context with the style they're going for. As someone who got pretty sick of the over-done seriousness and desperate need to feel real that things like the Nolan trilogy were all about, I'm down for something with more flair to it that maybe looks a little goofy but isn't Schumacher-levels campy. And, really, a dude who has bleached skin and green hair who behaves like a clown all the time is a silly thing inherently. So eh.

I don't look forward to almost any superhero stuff anymore, but I'm really looking forward to this. I've always been a DC fan anyway, so it's just cool to finally see some of that stuff being put in movies finally. It's too bad we'll never see Superman Lives, though!

I do like some of Zack Snyder's work but I think of him as a Terry Gilliam wannabe w/o substance. He has some good ideas but little substance of what he could do to make the story more engaging.

Fucking awesome news when I heard this. There is also a petition that fans are pushing to have him reprise his role as J.J.

What I hope is dealt with in a logical way is why doesn't Superman just shoot his heat vision at Batman's mouth/lower face or eyes to instantly defeat him.

i was wrong, i was very very wrong. i have a high tolerance for superhero films, and if pressed can say some nice things about Ang Lee's Hulk, or Spiderman 3. but it is a struggle with this film.

admittedly i'm not a huge fan of the dc universe, but this film just seemed awful. I have trouble grasping that this was meant to be the cornerstone for an entire film franchise.

around the 2:15 mark I had to pull out my phone to see just how long the film had been going on for because it felt like a 5 hr epic, and was honestly surprised that it was only a little over 2 hrs.

on the plus side, i could get behind the portrayal of Luthor, Afleck's Batman might have been ok if it wasn't contrasted directly with the bale / nolan version. Some of the scenes i liked, the metal bat suit filmed relatively well & some of the "hovering superman" shots were nice.

i probably would have been ok with a 2hr adaptation of the batman vs superman fight from miller's "Dark Knight Returns" and had hoped that was going to be a focal point of the film, instead it felt like the shortest part of the film.

Wonder Woman made little impact, reminds me of Halle Berry's Storm from some of the X-Men films, looks good in promo stills, but ultimately over diluted in the film.

Likewise Superman was an empty suit, they tried to humanize him a bit, but the actor or the dialogue just fell flat, and after awhile you just want somebody to kick seven shades of shit out of him.

Overall the movie is probably stretched too thin, 3 big heroes and their individual supporting casts, Luthor, and then the plot relevant NPCs that setup plot points and provide backstory... it is just too much to care about any of it.

The Joker has 'taken over' the Suicide Squad, David Ayers, and Jared Leto Twitter accounts. As soon as #JokerWasHere starts trending, something's apparently going to happen.

I could see the Joker being the kind of petty attention wore that cares about hashtags, especially the Leto Joker

Warner Bros. apparently demanded Suicide Squad re-shoots to make it more fun after response to SvB. Those re-shoots are taking place as we speak. Oh boy....

I wonder if they'll milk the film by releasing the original version on bluray as well...

I hope so. But, I have also heard this is the norm for these movies. Re-shoots are common.

To be honest, I think if they are buckling under pressure from the studio, it kinda sucks because DC has always been on the darker side than Marvel.

Well I guess we cant have variety anymore because apparently to make a good comic film you need to rip off whatever Marvel does to please the herd.

I'm iffy on this. I don't like the animation, I think Kevin and Mark are too old for this story (both of their Batman and Joker voices sound aged because they are aged) and Bruce Timm doesn't even like the story (which makes me question why he's even involved...).

yeah but considering all the decisions that DC/Warner Bros have been making since the direction they took MoS as well as the New 52 relaunch, are you really surprised? The few things they get right (The Flash, Darkseid War, Court of Owls) seem like dumb luck compared to the mountain of fuck-ups they've had. Same goes for this ultra dark, bloddy, hard R-rated animation DVD thing they've decided on, but with animation that doesn't fit it in anyway.

Every trailer sells me more on SS. Looks like a ton of fun and a breathe of fresh air. And that shot of Batman has me pretty excited, as well as the fact that it looks like we're getting a good bit more Joker than I expected (I remember it originally sounded like he'd only be in a couple flashbacks, but this looks like he has more than a couple scenes). Leto seems fucking great, and a good blend of Scott Synder's Joker and TAS Joker. Him consulting Grant Morrison likely paid off big.

I'm more excited for this than I was for BvS, and I was REALLY excited for BvS. I'm not sure if it helps that I know absolutely nothing about DC outside of the Batman films. I haven't even seen BvS, but I might have to go watch it just so I can catch any references in SS.

Also, can anybody tell me which media is part of the canon DCCU? Is there anything besides Man of Steel and BvS?

I guess they need to get that 15 year old male demographic somehow!

I do hate that it seems like they're going to constantly play up Harley being hot. Pretty unecessary and very pandering. Regardless, it seems like there is more to her than that and Robbie seems perfect for it. Her and Leto feel like a very natural pairing for the characters, and I really look forward to Batfleck's interactions with them.

The more I see of this movie, the more I dislike it. Just something seems off to me. And I can't STAND Jared Leto's version of The Joker so far. His acting seems like he's trying too hard. And his laugh sounds like some cheesy Halloween decoration.
And I don't really care so far for Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. I guess I'm still in lala land, wishing it could be Brittany Murphy when that's impossible since she's dead.

Leto feels like the closest thing to Mark Hamill's Joker onscreen that we'll ever get in live action form. I'd prefer he not have the "damaged" tattoo but I don't really care all that much. The various outfits we've seen him in from promos to set pics have mostly all been from one comic or another and he feels a lot like Endgame Joker blended with Morrison's take on the character. Very much what I want out of him.

I'm glad they're not just doing Ledger again. That was a weird version that worked at one specific point in time and I was truly concerned all we'd ever get would be retreads of it because of its popularity. I've known too many people who that's their entire sense of the character when that's not all there is to it at all. Leto feels like a very operatic, over-the-top, swaggering maniac living it up, which is very much the Joker to me. He's having fun, he's acting ridiculous and he's embodying the Clown Prince of Crime moniker. I'm just very excited for him in general, it was a casting that the minute I heard it I thought "Why haven't I ever thought of this before?" I'm excited to see him in full and can't wait, personally.

Also he has all his teeth in what are presumably flashback scenes shown in the trailer. Safe to assume that people were right in assuming that Batman knocked 'em out after he killed Jason. Can I just take a moment to say how happy it makes me to be able to say that sentence about a live-action movie and it not be made up? I'm so glad we're post-Nolan Batman.
