Somebody didn't pay attention I see ! Those are indeed remixes. It almost made me buy the regular edition, but I really wanted the booklet which will be (I hope) filled with art by Mills, which I love. The fact that the 3 remixes will be on another disc sealed the deal. I hate it when they cram remixes at the end of a record, I'm old school like that, a record is its own entity, it should stop where it's meant to end, not force you to suddenly hear half a dozen discotechno variations of the single.

Oops, I haven't been attentive indeed. Oh well, fourteen is more than enough.

Don't worry man. Extensive touring in 2013 and 2014. That's just the first leg. Ive been going to see NIN on every tour since 94 (except the NIN/JA and Wave Goodbye,) and they've NEVER not played dallas...and they usually play dallas twice. i think we just might have to wait till next year. but for sure, no dallas or austin or OK for that matter plus "extensive 2013-14 touring" = many more shows to be announced.

Yeah, its been brought up a couple of times before but it falls in line with the whole TDS theme. The artwork (ie: The teeth at the bottom of the tour page, Mills working on album cover again, the TDS font) and the sounds we're picking up within this track and too closely related for it to be a coincidence. Someone (their name is escaping me at this moment) brought up the idea that this album's theme might be along the lines of climbing up out of a downward spiral but who knows. All I know is that it's going to be exciting to see what else happens between now and September.

I sure hope so. This would be the first time that they only hit norcal once. We usually get a good 2 or 3 runs. Mountain View, Oakland, San Francsico, even Sacramento area

Reading through the thread, it amazes me what songs people think it sounds like. Not just that, but the VARIETY of songs that it supposedly sounds like. The fact that nobody can agree on that shows me that this isn't as easy a song to pin down. Also, I love reading "I haven't liked anything since..." posts. If you haven't liked anything since *insert album here*, then why should anyone expect you to like this? Do you want a medal just because you're already devoted to a previous era?

The song is pretty much the hand that feeds with the same old tired guitar tone he's used forever and simple drum machine pattern from the slip.

It has his recent signature upbeat playful singing style and pretty much everything else he's done in the last few cd's thrown in. So, because it has a TDS style guitar for the fade out come in it harkens back to the old days? no.

The only thing from the 'old days' that remains here are his lyrics which haven't progressed at all.

love the guy, love nin, can't wait for the concert but the song is meh. Low expectations for the album.

The new song doesn't knock me off my feet, but it's still a quality lead single. The first verse has an underwhelming PHM vibe, and the chorus isn't exactly the catchiest. Once the extra wavy synth-thingy and guitar kick in on the second verse, though, it gets much better (also, kudos to the well-placed solo - Reznor's always been underrated in the solo department!)

I always felt like The Fragile was the remaining and fragmented thoughts of "Mr. Self Destruct" in TDS, and did a pretty epic job at that.

See, I don't hear anything that specifically reminds me of The Hand That Feeds, yet you'll swear up and down that it sounds the same. That just proves my point. People are hearing what they want to in the song, and the fact that there's no real general consensus as to what this song is means that it's not as simple as people are making it out to be.

I never said it did. I'm not sure why people are referencing TDS to be honest (aside from the artwork), but again, that just brings me back to my point about this being a song that isn't as easy to pin down as it might seem.

first few times I heard it, I thought it was the best song ever. As it is sinking in, I would say it's a cool song. It isn't miles apart from a song like Only or Discipline to be honest. I do dig the 80s synths tho...
