I want this thang. I wonder if I can pay for it with a Chinese bank account, as I'm currently living in China.

As soon as I saw the Todd Rundgren remix, I could tell it was a fake.

Then I went to iTunes myself to see if the real listing was up.....

So, after mulling over the pre-release for quite a few days, and seeing todays NIN hotline update about the track listing for the remix album I decided now was as good as time as ever to pre-order the album... until I went to the nin.com store and they were asking for $12.99 to ship a CD by standard postage... really?? $13 to ship a CD to Canada? That seems steep. I can ship a CD to the USA for $5...

I emptied my shopping card after that... I wonder, will the deluxe CD readily be available in store on Tuesday Sept 3rd, or is it a NIN.com exclusive??

Part of me thinks I should be ordering the CD directly through nin.com to support the band directly, and not buy it from a massive retail CD chain, but for that gauging on shipping, it's almost worth it to just hold off til release date to buy a physical copy in the store.

EDIT: I just answered my own question... HMV will have the Deluxe CD for purchase on September 3rd for $25 canadian. So it's cheaper for me to buy it locally.

Now the question is, how many copies will my local store actually get... hmm...

I'm not worried about buying locally as much as getting the best deal and I got the deluxe edition through Amazon.

I have a feeling that minimalism really translates to "shut the fuck up. This isn't going to be broken, TDS, or fragile. It's been over a decade, so stop expecting that. Also stop commenting on the band's Facebook updates that I should go shoot heroin and make harder music."

P-orridge mix could be interesting. He just needs some carter-tutti mixes to complete the set now.

anybody else feels the photobook is the main attraction factor for "deluxe version", rather than remixes?

Well I'm a fan of Russel Mills since The Downward Spiral, so in my case yeah, I wasn't in it for the interview and haven't cared much for remixes since Things Falling Apart.
So yeah, you bet that Mills art-filled booklet's ass is mine. MINE !

Hear hear. apart from some miscellaneous tracks (whoo Butch Vig Last), and most of FDTS, NIN remixes generally don't blow me away. Russel Mills adds a ton of atmosphere and sets the mood just right for the releases he's been involved with; the book is far and away the reason I'm going for the DE. Really stoked that he's involved again. Loving the layout similarities between the HM deluxe version and the original TDS artwork, btw.

I'm too stunned and stoked to know what to say... P-Orridge?

Brilliant! This means that the Award for Weirdest NIN Remix will from now on go to Genesis. Sorry Dreijer!

What if that private gig will see the album being premiered, you know, like a live stream on itunes, or they'll play the entire new album...maybe that's why it wasn't announced before...or maybe I'm seeing too much into this...but it would have some logic...yeah? no?

Please, let us hear that new album, I'm beginning to lose my sanity

with trent re-adopting the whole TDS aesthetic with the artwork/feel for the new album, i was kinda half-hoping that one of the bonus remixes would be a j.g. thirwell remix. but having p-orridge do one really isn't too far off! todd rundgren is definitely a very left field choice as well. i never thought i'd hear a todd rundgren remix of a nine inch nails track in my life! just makes me wonder that if trent is planning a remix album of 'hesitation marks', what other surprise remix artists he may have in store for that??

I'd love to see a full remix album. The time around TDS/FDTS is generally very memorable and defining for NIN. The aesthetic was really nailed (heh) and the style of music was somehow very cohesive, no matter if you were dealing with an original Nine Inch Nails song, an Aphex Twin original or a B-side. Everything seemed to fit into a larger whole and tell one story, and Russell Mills' art direction was definitely partly responsible.

I agree, I'd love to see a Hesitation Marks remix album as well. While my favorite remix record to this day is probably still Things Falling Apart (I just love everything about the Fragile era) the idea of songs being manipulated and "remixed" like they were in Further Down the Spiral for new material is just really exciting. Although while I liked YearZeroRemixed (some songs I prefer over the originals!) it strictly being a "remix only" record was a little lackluster. To me, besides the really cool things people have done to the original tracks...a lot of the fun in these "companion piece" records like is the inclusion of some really weird B-sides or completely different arrangements like Memorabilia and Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now) for FDTS or Metal and Slipping Away for TFA.

Either way, I'm sure these new songs are begging to be remixed and I would love to see Halo 29 be just that.

I really love both versions of the Further Down the Spiral - the Jim Thirlwell and Aphex Twin tracks are fantastic.

halo twenty eight. hesitation marks. 09.03.2013

I'm kind of regretting preordering through nin.com. Deluxe edition is ten bucks less on Amazon

Hopefully the band gets a lot of the difference.

Supposedly an autolux remix of Everything.

(that's the song "Everything," not everything on the CD just to clarify)

    only $14.19

I found them through Amazon as one of their sub-stores. Found out they had their own site to order through and stuff is cheaper than going through Amazon. Ordered from them a few times, everything came fast and in perfect condition. From now on, any CD shopping that I do it's through Import CDs. I like to support the smaller companies.

Fuck I hope it arrives on the 3rd. Todd Rundgren remix...awesome. A Wizard, A True star is an amazing album. International Feel is such a great song, along with Zen Archer and La Feel Internacianal (sic?). And i really want that autolux remix...

My friend just heard Eater of Dreams and all I got out of him is that it "sounds crazy". Nerding out over nothing.

edit : Got a lil something, apparently he didn't even hear the whole thing, - " It's crazy ambient noise which sounds similar to some of the scores he's done"

    How? Where? Just curious.

Edit: Heh, is your friend a Mexican named Mark by any chance?

I believe there is a tour/album trailer coming where Eater of Dreams is the song in it.

Pre-release "reviews" should have the spoiler tag, me thinks. I'd also like to know where your friend heard the song, and why exactly (just?) the intro track.
