Welp, I don't think I got the job I was trying so hard to get for the past few weeks. My friend who works there told me yesterday that a person who interviewed a few days after I did had been contacted for a third interview, but that turned it down because 35k a year wasn't enough for her. But I mean, if they contacted that person, and not me, I feel like that's a pretty clear indicator that I'm not getting it.
This fucking sucks. I REALLY REALLY wanted that job. I don't understand what I potentially did wrong.

I'd absolutely still take the offer even if I was their fifth choice or whatever because I'd still get to work in that department and do the same job with the same benefits, regardless of if they wanted me initially or not. I'd just go in as their "___th choice" and prove them all why I should have been their number 1.
I did email the hiring person on Thursday, the day before I learned this information, and they never responded, so I'm hoping that maybe tomorrow they'll finally respond and it won't just be a "thanks but no thanks" email. I don't really have my hopes up for that at this point, but it'd be really nice.

Hey people, I am busy doing the actual work, do not expect me to handle all the e-mails and overview of everything PLUS doing the work. The movie theater I work at has been dangling this certain position over my head for over a year now, and I just found out they quietly gave it to a guy I trained A MONTH AGO. And when I called them out on it, their reply was "well we thought you were wanting to quit". Because I applied for (and didn't get) a high salaried Graphic Design job in an actual office building. Just that ONE job I tried to get. I was not out actively shopping for a new job. No one ever even asked if I'd be interested in taking it. They just assumed. This is bullshit.
And I still have not gotten a raise here since early 2014. Fuck this. This company has done nothing but treat me like shit for 3 years.

That completely blows and on top of it must feel like crap knowing hey didn't respect you enough to ask. I would say though, based on my personal experience, it doesn't hurt to throw out to current employers your continued interest in getting "a better job" with them. I went out on a limb about 6 years ago and told my 2nd level manager that I was interested in taking the job that my current boss was leaving. I really did not think I had a chance in hell but I also knew if I didn't tell them, they'd never know and NEVER ask! Of course I didn't get it but I got a great interview and continued to be respected by my peers and management chain.
Maybe you did that with the theater and they just ignored, it? I don't know. But again, sorry you got passed over like that.

Two weeks into my new gig and I really like it. Bad news is, I sort of saw this coming, they fired a dude and I'm taking over some of his customers. The good news is: they are in Canada! Frequent Flier miles here I come!

Monday: woke up 7am and applied for jobs.
10am: receive call from recruitment agency to go in that afternoon.
Go in. Tuesday, the company wants to see me for an interview. Get call back from recruitment agency, say they were impressed and want a final interview on Friday.
Went in today at 9:00am and had final interview.
Got home and received a call at 4:30pm saying they want me full time for the job. Lost for words. Absolute best week of my life!

I'd been doing some work for another department for two weeks now and 20 minutes before I was scheduled to leave today they told me I would be getting promoted to their department and to be put in cross training for a senior position. I'm so stoked. It's a pay raise and the work is pretty simple and fine compared to what I was doing. I'm so stoked. I haven't been promoted in any job since 2011. This has been one of the best years of my life. Gonna celebrate by taking the stepdaughter to Chuck E Cheese.

Even more beauty about it: from May to July I was working in the same building up on level 45 here in the heart of the city in a contract role. By sheer coincidence, it's in the same building but on level 9. And I WANTED to stay working in that building because it's so easy to get to, shops everywhere, trains, and it's all underground so you don't even need to go out in the elements if it's raining or whatever. It's for a multinational well known insurance company. So buzzed.

I quit the part-time casual gig that I had working at a concert hall here in town. Got to see some spectactular shows there, and get paid at the same time — not to mention make some really good friends while I was at it, too. But I have a full-time job now, which is way more challenging, pays better and hopefully is permanent. It was time to move on, basically, although I was sad to leave after five and a half years (!) of working at the concert venue, on and off. C'est la vie. Onward and upward!

i work in an office part time, and in a retail environment part time.
the office and (all it's assets) i work at is up for sale. i hope it takes forever to finalize.
working at two different places always kept me level, i never get burnt out at either place and they're both family owned. i hope for monetary reasons my retail job will pick up my eventual slack, but nothing is certain and i'm slightly nervous. i have tons of skills, but lack the necessary conviction to "sell" them (to fucking strangers no less.) i hate having to "start over" (seems like) every five years. fucking bitch made.
my parents never had to do this shit! they had the same job for 800 years. and the same car for 500. nothing is made to last anymore! IT'S BITCH MADE!

So, my work is about developing HTML e-mails for quite large company. On Friday evening, I was the initiative first one to test new version of internal tool for uploading/generating e-mails, only on test account, and generating only to my personal e-mail. I was not sure if new uploads to server are really overwriting existing content, so I was modifying my local HTML file - adding some random cursing words, what else. OK, all fine.
Later that evening, there was an emergency report from that quite large company - our client - about unusual API connections and activities, and as it turns out, in that new software version was an error which was switching something important on server it should not touch (something like "list of e-mail recipients for campaign"). Now, nothing happened, but thinking about me accidentally sending "fuck this new product you cunts" to thousands of recipients of our client is making me smile/terrified shitless at the same time. Should be more careful, right? :-) Or I should slow down and leave first versions etc. to more... more what, stupid ones? ;-)

I work as an asset protection associate at a Wal-Mart, so I just wanted to complain about how boring my job can be. Just walking around in circles all day gets quite irritating. Now, when I actually catch people stealing, it's quite fun.

When I worked at Walmart, I always kinda wished I could get and AP job.
Luckily, I got overnight electronics, which was basically the same thing, but in one area, and also stocking new freight in that area, and also going out back to get stuff to refill, and also checking in the electronics from the overnight truck, and also running the register, and also binning my overstock, and also being tech support for customers.
But hey, when I got to just bullshit with AP while we watched people try to steal, that was fun.

when i worked in grocery, 9 times out of ten AP caught people stealing liquor, makeup, and meat (!?)
they watch the employees too. one time i gave a homeless person some fried chicken from the deli. i got caught by AP and had to write an affidavit to the union and the company that farmed the AP dude to our store. i wish he would have just chilled and swept it under the rug, oh well. i still had my job after all was said and done.
the AP at my local wal-mart is a chick and she's fucking badass.

People still shit daily, it's just that me or my partner aren't always there to see it. I usually catch 8-12 people a month. We have to see selection, concealment, and maintain visual contact until the suspect gets out the door. At that point we approach them and identify ourselves (at least we are supposed to.) Usually, I'll walk up and say "Hey, I want to talk to you about (insert stolen item here) that you did not pay for." We then escort them back to our office so we can fill out paperwork. We will call PD if it's over 25 dollars in value, if they run, don't have an ID, or have priors. So we call the police fairly often. If they run, we are not supposed to chase them because we technically cannot touch them. Now, what we will do is give them a few seconds head start, then run so we can call PD to relay direction of travel and a license plate should they get into a car.
Now, the biggest thing I've had is a TV stop. I was watching these bastard kids in electronics with backpacks, then a guy walked by me walking around suspiciously. He then meets up with this other guy that has a cart with a spiderwrapped TV, soundbar, and stereo system. I knew at that moment that they were just going to push it out the door. So I grabbed an associate as my witness, and sure enough, they skipped out the door with it (they also had smiles on their faces.) I then approached them and said "so ya'll just aren't gonna pay for shit?" They looked at me and just kept walking through the parking lot. They got to the end, and then they bolted. So I got the merchandise back, then went back to my office to see if they came in on foot. They did not because the idiots left their car in the lot. PD found the guys across the street so I had to go identify them so that was fun. In terms of dollar amount, that was my highest stop. I also used to be a front end supervisor at another store so I had some cashiers who were dating under me who I really did not like. They were just odd and tried too hard to get to know me. So one day after I transferred to my new store as AP, I saw them in my store shopping. So I avoided them so I wouldn't have to talk to them. So an hour or so later, I'm hanging out over by the registers, and I see them walk out the door with all of their groceries unbagged. I walked up and addressed them by name and brought them back inside. It took them a bit to realize that I pretty much caught them stealing. That might be my favorite stop.
Best way to shoplift? Don't. Most stores have really good cameras to where their APs sit in the office and watch cameras. I just can't sit in an office all day, I would rather walk the floor. It's more challenging that way.

I am a nurse and I love my job, but my boss makes it hard sometimes.
Hospitals have to make money and so we try to get more operations done with less nurses.
10 years ago there were 10 nurses for 40 patients, now it's 3 for 40.
Working on weekends isn't that bad, because I can sleep and chill all day when everybody else is working
I still think about leaving and try something new but I really like working with people and helping them so I guess there is no other choice...

After three years working on an adolescent unit at a psychiatric hospital, I have finally found a new job managing funding for state programs for children and families in need. I am very much so looking forward to being in a workplace that doesn't involve being physically and verbally assaulted on a daily basis, not have to rely on the horribly unsupportive administrative staff, and complete lack of adequate staffing to maintain a safe environment. Also no more second shift, thank fuck.

It's been a pain in the ass trying to find work since moving out to the boonies.
-I'm living in a rural area in TX outside a town called New Waverly with max 3mbps downstream internet from AT&T.
-One car between me and my partner, who works 12 hour shifts - so I'm stuck at home most of the time 10 miles outside of town.
-I need to be helping provide and making extra income, but most remote jobs want at least a 10mbps downstream internet speed. Driving me crazy.
I feel like I've checked countless job board websites but found nothing that could fly. I don't have a college degree, so anything requiring any kind of degree is out.
Brief history: We were living with my partner's father in Houston for a bit before the whole being gay thing came to a boiling point and we needed to get our own place ASAP. With us suddenly being out, we needed a lot of necessities and opened a few lines of credit to furnish the apartment. About a year later, his stepfather's health went into a steep decline so we moved out of Houston to live in his grandparent's empty house (they passed away in the early 90's). Just before the move, our car was totaled as a result of an 18-wheeler's tire blowing out and flying into our car and underneath us, causing us to lose control. We had to get a new car, and the bill ended up being over $100/mo not including an insurance hike. We're currently barely keeping our heads above water with late fees from bills from when we had to get our own place, on top of the significant hike on our car note/insurance. I had to leave my job when we moved out here, but I really need some sort of significant form of income :/
