you know, god bless musicians and the music they make, because I fucking love it, but we're talking about PLAYING GUITAR

doing that 2.5 hours a day, 5 days a week, is fucking nothing. the people who built the parts to the computer you are typing your message on are doing more physically demanding jobs than that, 10 hours a day

Sure has, including parenthood that is. I still can't imagine it being too far off. After a final few year run retiring the demanding machine that is NIN, from there concentrating on producing, scoring, HTDA (rocking, but not like ROCKING) and whatnot.

The depressing realist/futurist in me is going to shut up now.

    YAY TOUR.

Belew gets to do whatever the fuck he wants, his new recordings with NIN are the whole reason we're getting a tour in the first place.

You guys realize that Belew has played on more NIN records than almost anyone except Trent? The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, Ghosts I–IV and the upcoming new tracks, should they end up on the Interscope greatest-hits LP, would make four albums. Even if they just play stuff from those records on this tour, I'll be happy.

Well, since there's no Greatest Hits yet, he's on three of 'em. Just as Jerome or Danny. Right? Also, don't forget Atticus. NEVER FORGET ATTICUS! That is all.

Jerome - The Fragile, With Teeth
Danny - The Downward Spiral, The Fragile
Atticus - With Teeth, Year Zero, Ghosts I-IV, The Slip

Nope, only Atticus beats him. Belew is the finest musician (next to Mike Garson) Trent's ever had playing with him. I'm almost convinced that pretty much the only thing that might force Bowie to get back on the road would be the opportunity to sing in front of those three. It'd be like having the fusion of all the greatest things in three of his different incarnations: Garson calling forth the glam, Belew recalling 'Berlin' and Reznor freaking out on loops from the electronic era.

You forgot "Still". Danny and Jerome are on it. Thus making it three "NIN records" they're on.

Awww you two, get a room!!

    http://loudwire.com/dave-navarro-rip...ch-nails-exit/

Bassist Eric Avery recently exited Nine Inch Nails after being named one of the band’s new members earlier this year and the news caught the eye of Avery’s onetime bandmate in Jane’s Addiction – guitarist Dave Navarro. During his online radio show ‘Dark Matter,’ the axeman used the platform to rail against Avery’s recent move and past actions.

In the radio segment [via Grunge Report], Navarro ranted, “I’m looking forward to the 12-hour YouTube session of him dishing the dirt on why. ‘Once again I am mesmerized by my inability to follow through with anything.’”
Opening up further, he explained, “This guy has constantly talked s— about me, Stephen [Perkins] and Perry [Farrell], and quit our band twice to quote unquote, pursue all of these really intense solo creative artistic output. All these different mediums that he’s going to, get into or whatever, where is it? Where’s all the s— that he’s doing? I don’t know. I wouldn’t be so vocal about it if he didn’t do a feature length film talking s— about all three of us.”
Adding to his rant, Navarro stated, “He quits Jane’s. He got thrown out of Garbage, he got rehired by Garbage, he’s in Nails, now he’s out of Nails. I mean, what the f— is the problem here? You know what I mean? Me, Perk and Perry have managed to put everything aside for 30 years.”
He concluded, “The guy’s entitled to do whatever the f— he wants to do, and it’s fine, but keep your f—ing mouth shut. I don’t really care. You can quite every band in the world … Here’s the thing. I’m talking mad s—. The reason why is he opened the door. He opened the door with the feature length film, he goes to people that I know and work with in the music business to talk s— about me and Stephen. He talks to people who work at musical equipment manufacturers, like that s—’s not going to get back to us? Come on. It’s just p—y s—, whatever.”
Cooling off a bit, Navarro concluded, “I don’t wish him any harm. I have a lot of fond memories with him. But if you’re going to f—ing open your mouth about the inner workings and dynamics of something that has been very, very good to you for a lot of years, and then not follow through on anything else, you’ve got it coming.”

    I needed this laugh.

I'm glad the boy wonder has returned, but I'm still curious about how different Live would have sounded with Avery (especially since I haven't heard his past work). Adrian Belew... I love his work both in and outside of NIN. He has some interesting albums.

    Nine Inch Nails 2013 tour

I think ANYTHING made by Avery after JA (deconstruction, polar bear, solo work) beats the shit out of what JA have done (strays and tgea), what dave has done and what perry has done.

Yeah, the guys have personal issues between them, they'll talk shit about each other the way they always have, but when it comes to music, even though I like what Porno for Pyros did, they're not even close to what Avery has done. The Deconstruction album alone is a way more interesting and beautiful album than what the other guys have released, followed closely by Polar Bear's Why Something Instead of Nothing?

Their personal lives, catfights and all their bs are things I don't care about.
    It's MUSIC what I'm after.

Am I bummed he wn't be touring with NIN? I was, not anymore now that Robin is back, and this is about NIN touring, not Eric Avery.

Re: 2.5 hour sets (I can't figure out how to quote three separate replies quickly, so here we are)...

I don't think the band's past should be used as a measuring stick for these upcoming shows, but that's just me. Do I think it's likely that we'll get sets that long? No, probably not. But do I think it's possible? Sure. Look at some of the final sets from the Wave Goodbye tour...they were up there. And heck, the guy I'm working for right now does an hour or more of performance for soundcheck, then comes back out and does a 2.5 hour show. And he's in his 70s. If he can do it, I'd imagine Trent & co. could pull it off as well.

Don't mind me, just this little quote popping up in my head. Then suddenly the realization of NIN retiring for good in not too many years creeping in...
You know, ive always envisioned NIN, as reznor ages, to mellow out. In fact, i THOUGHT he was really done after the whole wave goodbye fiasco.
What i mean by mellow out is maybe trent sitting down at a piano, with perhaps a cellist and a guitarist and interesting percussion and bass. For some reason, i just KNOW that this is going to happen at some point.

As for this tour...i have no fucking CLUE what these boys have in store, and that's half the excitement for me.
Has anyone heard if we will be treated to mind bending visuals from the moment factory again? i sure hope so...i loved it in '08..the changing lights kept my jaw dropping all night long!

The official @ nineinchnails account on Twitter is now following Moment Factory.
But I guess those rumoured mind-blowing visuals will be US-only as always.

Pitchfork is now saying that Belew isn't touring with them:

UPDATE: Belew is not part of the touring band. He just contributed to the album

Rolling Stone's article on the album is missing Belew from the touring lineup.

    http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...album-20130528

"Along with Reznor, Nine Inch Nails' new lineup features Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Robin Finck and Ilan Rubin; this group will make their debut at the Fuji Rock Festival in Naeba, Japan on July 26th."

So what happened? Belew has definitely been rehearsing with the band. Either he quit, or Pitchfork got their information wrong.

I think that's about as official as you can get short of an official announcement.
