Sounds like something that could be on Lateralus. I'd definitely be interested in hearing material along those lines.

That's a lovely riff. I hope it ends up on the new album.

I usually dont complain about tool, but seriously i would be pissed if i went to one of these shows. I wouldnt necessarly expect them to play anything new, but come on guys you have a huge back catalog of stuff people would love to hear. and to troll them by just playing the same songs over and over.

    man id be pissed

wow, some of these videos out here have amazing quality. these guys sound great.

do people go to Rolling Stones concerts and bitch that there's not new material? because frankly, Tool is a legacy act at this point, and frankly pt2, they sound at the top of their game sonically. also, there seems to be lots of little jams and whatnot; will bet $$$ will be on any new album that eventually comes out... the stuff at the start of schism sounds fucking awesome.

Screwdriver, you seriously can't be comparing Tool to The Stones, right?

1996 might as well be 1966 given how much things have changed for rock music.

That's too good not to be on an album.

Any really good recordings from these shows yet? Esp soundboard or IEM recordings?

The IEM rip from the Charlotte Bojangles Arena show was ace (even if the first 2 songs were botched by the guy fiddling with his radio setup). It's Nardo's IEM so it's a pretty good mix just dry. Expanded to stereo and with some minor effects, it's as good as studio.

Encrypted IEM systems still aren't being toured. All you need is the right scanner, some free time in the afternoon during soundcheck (not 100% necessary, but helpful), and a cooperative RF environment. Soundboard recording: done.

That said, most people don't have the gear or go to the trouble. And in many instances, you just can't get into a position where you can get a clean signal.

is security really bad on this tour?
just got an email regarding the SF show, they basically say they will be super tight, i was planning on taping those (esp with failure) but i'm not too sure now...
I think they had metal detector too at that venue last time

They seem like people who don't like to rush anything. The band is very meticulous over every detail, and too add they seem to let inspiration come to them instead of searching for it. Plus, I don't take any stock in what Maynard has to say because a) he trolls. b) he has complete disdain for media. I also heard that 4 months out of the year he cant be involved with music because he has to be at his vineyards. So I am sure that doesn't help.

I am pretty sure the band is working on something. Why would ALL OF THEM lie? It just wont be out for awhile. Heck, even members said that maynard is in tool mode. My guess is later 2014/ early 2015...etc

    Be patient.
I must keep reminding myself of this.

The fact we are here in March 2014 and I read someone else (^) say 2015... lol It's pretty unbelievable, because that scenario is truly not implausible.

In the nicest way possible--fuck Tool... Unless the album just ends up being that goddamn good; if that becomes the case I'll eat my ratty Tool shirt.

I wonder who'll do the artwork for a new album... Please, no more Alex Grey. While he's awesome, I think Tool need to find someone new to give it a fresh new atmosphere.

I'm also sick of the current Tool logo. Actually I didn't like it when it first came out in 2005 either.

I always liked the Lateralus logo quite a bit. I'm not a fan of the all-caps, block letter logos. I like that the last two logos have been a little nuanced (even if the last one is a little meh).

It was a joke - and probably from the person who wrote the blog post, not Maynard.

Thought I'd post this here because what the hell.

If anyone here has the San Francisco 2010 poster, I'll trade you my signed Opiate reissue for it.

When the next Tool album comes out, so drink it in about 3400 years.
