Wow, I had no idea.
^ That's kind of a waste of money.
EDIT: I can see where you are coming from though. As long as you don't open it up it will still be worth $$. To each's own.

#tool2014? yeah right maynard
There will not necessarily be a whole album, but I believe they will finish up at least one new piece of music next year. Maybe debut it online, and only put out a whole long-playing thing in 2015. Even Tool has to move with the times or risk not having any income except from touring and a dwindling hardcore base of superfans.
I don't know. There's a non-zero chance that the music is mostly written but waiting for lyrics and vocals.
IIRC, that's largely how Lateralus was done since Maynard was touring with A Perfect Circle in 1999 and 2000.
If that's the case, the band could conceivably hit the studio any time over the next couple months and get an album out in early 2014.
Even if they're waiting and writing it all together like 10,000 Days (which doesn't sound likely, given Maynard's CD comment) Danny has said it really only took about 3-4 months to write and record the album. Most of the time from 2001-2006 was devoted to side projects.
I bet it will be 2014. Can't wait.
2014: Tool releases The Pot video
Fixed for accuracy.
And now, for begging: is there a boot of the 2002 show at the Oncenter in Syracuse? Swore I saw that floating around once, but can't find it. Would love to pull that one down for nostalgia's sake - I'll always remember it as the night that Mike Patton nearly knocked me over backstage, stared at me for a second, and went "who the fuck is this guy" before heading off. Ironically, I think I was one of ten people in the entire building that actually wanted to see Tomahawk.
I've just listened to Salival CD for the first time (now second time) this week on youtube, and I thought it was good.
What would you say is a fair price for the boxset on ebay?
Awesome video, October Midnight, thanks for sharing. Here's another video posted on Fourth Eye, it's about the packaging of 10,000 Days, really interesting stuff:
Sick find! Man they could make a video about the packaging from pretty much any of their albums and it'd be well worth watching.
I've never seen a more enthusiastic woodblock performance than the one the kid in that video gave.
That drummer really gets into it too. I loved that video.

Still trolling away.
That interview is from 2007.
No shit.
I knew that the moment I opened it and read. I'm just having a little fun with my response.
What the hell? If Tool wants to make an epic movie in the style of The Wall, they should just do a kickstarter. If Amanda Palmer can make $1,000,000 for an album, I bet Tool can make $100,000,000 for a movie.
yeah but then they'd have to, you know, like actually make the movie.
